Half the year is over. I like 99 albums so far 23 of which I like more than the rest. I will hazard a guess that my 99 will almost certainly dwarf anyone else's figures! I am sure the total will be close to 200 by year's end. I guess I am easy to please and have low quality control as some would say, but I could care less really, I like what I like I can't help it. It has been a really solid year so far personally speaking but maybe not as good as 2011. However of all the genres I like, I have gained the most joy from the thrash releases in my list surprisingly enough. Thrash is king in 2012! Although cheesy power metal remains my first love and there's been plenty cool albums to keep me happy there. All praise, hate, indifference is welcome! The top 23 albums are in bold.

I'm sitting on 22 so far. I'm sure I left 1-2 off by mistake.

So far my favorites have been from Angel Witch, Orange Goblin, The Reticent, Iron Fire, Xandria, Accept and Clairvoyants.

Forgot about the Clairvoyants, pretty good album indeed. The Angel Witch didn't do much for me. The Orange Goblin was cool if I remember well, but I'd need to play it again.

I dont have that big of a list, but here we gooo~

Astra-The Black Chord
Alcest-Les Voyages De L'Âme
Candlemass-Psalms for the Dead
Borknagar-Urd
Circus Maximus-Nine

Ne Obliviscaris- Portal of I
Overkill- The Electric Age
Rush-Clockwork Angels
Storm Corrosion- S/T
Suspyre-S/T
Swallow the Sun-Emerald Forest And The Blackbird

I still have a lot of CDs to work through post-NEARFest, but so far the only albums I've heard that I envision being top 10 at the end of the year is the new Rush and the new Anglagard.

Death Grips - The Money Store
The Ghost Inside - Get What You Give
Frankie Rose - Interstellar
Hot Water Music - Exister
Periphery - Periphery II: This Time It's Personal
Liberteer - Better to Die on Your Feet Than Live on Your Knees

Alcest - Les Voyages De L'Âme
Fear Factory - The Industrialist
Meshuggah - Koloss
Napalm Death - Utilitarian
Pale Divine - Painted Windows Black
El-P - Cancer 4 Cure
Light Asylum - Light Asylum

Still need to let the new Rush sink in. Really enjoying that one. Also need to check out the new Änglagård.

LP's
MGLA - With Hearts Toward None
Ostots - Heriotzaren Bidezidorrak
Accept - Stalingrad
Pseudogod - Deathwomb Catechesis

EP's, Demos, Splits
Beastmilk - Use Your Deluge
Nyogthaeblisz/Goatpenis
No Future - Jämtländska Mord
Magic Circle - Magic Circle

Overall a pretty weak year so far.

The Christian Mistress was ok, got old really quickly and the debut is leagues ahead, quality-wise. Haven't heard Pale Divine. I liked a lot more than what I listed, but those are the only ones I've heard that are really exceptional.
