Tough year for Atlanta (minus PP of course)

So far these are the tours that I would love to catch that are not coming to Atlanta. Some are due to them not coming to Southeast at all but others just skipping Atl . What gives :(

- Nightwish/Sabaton/Delain
- Kamelot/Dragonforce
- Volbeat
- AC/DC
- Amaranthe
- Adrenaline Mob
- Slash
- Korpiklaani/Ensiferum
- Extreme (pornografitti 25th year anniversary)

I really wanted to see Volbeat, AC/DC and Slash...my wife wanted to see Amaranthe, but no dice...WTH!?!?

So... aside from the Super Bowl, you don't get any of the preseason games in your city? Let me see, where did I put it. Oh yeah, here it is...

Zod lives in NYC and pretends to empathize with shows missing his area. Hello, from way over here in the West Coast ... which according to Milton does not count as North America. ;)

Last I heard, west coasters continued complaining about fewer tours being booked there, but still did nothing to increase attendance in the few tours that are booked there (aka. going to shows).

Sorry guys. You want to see more shows there? Then start attending more shows there. It's that simple.

I'll be more than happy to book tours out there. But you guys have to make it worth it for the bands (and for the promoters).

Cheers,
M

You probably know this...

Nightwish - Sabaton - Delain is coming to Nashville TN on Monday, May 11 and there are still tickets available. Its a little further to drive, but they'll also be in Orlando on Friday May 8. I'm definitely going to the Nashville show since I live there.

Wintersun sold out In Oakland. :p

They also sold out in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle... that's because it's Wintersun.
I so don't get it. If you would have asked me how many people they'd draw in NYC, I would have said, "50". I never knew how popular they are. Nor do I understand their popularity. Usually, even when I don't personally like a band, I get "why" they're popular. Not in this case. Respective of the rest of the scene, they don't seem like they should be as big a draw as they are.

I actually like the band and yet I have to agree. I don't have a clue why they're so popular. So many other great bands out there and they sell out virtually every American city they play. It's remarkable.

I think it all comes down to the buzz they generated with their *amazing* debut album back in 2003 I believe, the looooong wait for the sophomore disc (almost 10 years), and the fact they had never played live before.

Add to that the fact that the "folk metal" thing exploded here in North America... man, you have a perfect storm. They are one of the biggest bands in that genre, hands down. And both releases are fucking excellent too.

I went to both. Wintersun was fucking phenomenal, and Enfiserium (sp?) were also fantastic. Turisas always puts on a great show, even if I don't love them on CD.

Thanks. Don't have any off days so I am going to miss them. But I will catch Kamelot in Birmingham, it is on a Friday.

Anyways. It is the reality of the scene that we are into. We have been spoiled previous years with more bands coming and plus PP here every year. :p
