FRIDAY Prediction Thread

*cough*HammerFall*cough* Though I still love them, Oscar is in a rut. Bleh.

Oh agreed.. I just happen to love HammerFall most out of the long running PM bands... I do agree they had a couple only so-so releases in the middle of their catalog, but hot DAMN did they come back stong with Threshold.

Saw Hammerfall open for Death on their last tour...how crazy of a match is that?! Although, I was one of the few there that actually wanted to see both...though, it was 80/20 more for Death. ;)

I am still kicking myself for not going to that.
I remember the day vividly.
I was at a record convention at the Hillside Holiday Inn.
There used to be this one metal vendor there from St Louis.
At the time, I only knew HammerFall by name, and never heard them.

He was going on and on about how amazing they were...

I skipped it, as I hadn't followed Death since Leprosy.

Wasn't a young Shadows Fall on that tour too?

Brainstorm - love Liquid Monster

HammerFall - Threshold is the worst album they've released to-date.

Man Jason, you and I are each other's power metal foils.

Hahaha, yeah, I think you are right!!!
Well, to be fair, I am not into PM as much as I was a few years back....
Too many bands releasing sub-par discs was the beginning of the end for me.
Then I started getting into a lot of death doom, and then more traditional doom. Still discovering bands daily.

Sometimes a newer power metal band pops up and grabs my attention
(IE - Powerquest, Wolf, Machine Men, etc, etc).

Wolf is a newer band? I thought they've been around for awhile. *confused*

PowerQuest is pretty sweet. I'm also a fan of Fairyland. They are, to me: Blind Guardian meets Rhapsody. I don't much care for their name, though... I also like Luca Turilli's solo stuff. Especially since he's gotten away from the Rhapsody sound, IMO.

Cellador's personnel lineup is no longer complete, so that won't happen.

Amon Amarth will be in the studio starting that weekend.

I thought they were still playing without a lead guitarist or maybe they have a few in mind that could learn a set's worth of material,

This is NOT ProgPower, and even that fest failed financially in Chicago...which is why it had to move to Atlanta.

The way I understand it, the first ProgPower sold out. The reason it moved to Atlanta was because Earthlink was closer to Glenn, metal-friendly, and festival-friendly (close to the hotels and easily accessible by public transport)... not to mention BIGGER. Let's face it: J.J. Kelley's is a tiny venue to hold an annual metal festival in. Right? ;)

No - at least not at the Columbus and Cleveland shows.

A young SF did tour with Dark Tranquillity and In Flames a few years later.

That was actually In Flames, Nevermore, and SF.

In Flames and DT toured with Killswitch and Sentenced...

Though maybe those bands all crossed on tour or something..

Well, no WOLFhave been around for a while, but still newer as opposed to BG, HAmmerFall, etc...

I love Rhapsody! I have one Luca solo, the most recent, and enjoy it much.
Though I like Dionysus too, so that helps..

Another power metal band I love is Metalium, though many consider them to be "C" level, but whatever. They aren't the most original, but are great at what they do.

Ive never listened to Metalium, but when the singer filled in for Apollo of Firewind @ PPUSA he fucking slayed

That would be great!!!!

I'd like to see 9 members on stage, and 3 female singers.

Haha, true! Plus I know they are homies of Novembers Doom, so the contact is there. I could be off base, but he said something about "ferret getting slayed by the metal blade", etc. Maybe being on SCREAMING FERRET would match!

If you like Dionysus, I would highly recommend checking out Saint Deamon. The band contains a couple members of Dionysus.

Cool, Yeah I think I saw you and Bob (diabolik) post about them before.
I don't keep up too much on power metal these days, so these threads do help!

I think they have a forum here, no?
