While Heaven Wept absolutely fit nicely in the Doom Metal genre. They're not sludgy or Sabbathy, nor are they slow Death Metal...but the epic nature of the music and the dark, sweeping melodies most certainly plant them in the Doom camp. They just happen to have some Prog tentencies...I think it's a good move to have them at PP...it'll broaden some horizons.
