Basically, you pick your favorite 6 songs that you would love to hear on an album side (I Know this is the cd age, but play along). Today you can pick your 6 favorite songs from the genre of Black metal. Continuing in the future, I will give you genres to choose your favorite 6 songs from. Also most likley I will further break down the black genre into different countries. Any suggestions, please PM me. I am sure this installment won't get much play here.

I'm DOWN! :)

Emperor - Thus Spake The Night Spirit
Dimmu Borgir - Blessing Upon The Throne Of Tyrrany
Cradle Of Filth - Death Magic For Adepts
Old Man's Child - Black Seeds On Virgin Soil
Tsjuder - Unholy Paragon
Agathodaimon - Rebirth

Venom - Die Hard
Samael - Black Trip
Mercyful Fate - Desecration of Souls
Dimmu Borgir - Reptile
Immortal - Tyrants
Emperor - An Elegy of Icaros

Well black metal isn't my strong suit really but the 6 I would choose at this time would be:

1 - Dimmu Borgir - "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse"
2 - Venom - "Countess Bathory"
3 - Venom - "Witching Hour"
4 - Arcturus - "Ad Absurdum"
5 - Cradle Of Filth - "All Hope in Eclipse"
6 - Cradle Of Filth - "Tonight in Flames"

Mercyful Fate - Come to the Sabbath
King Diamond - Abigail
Akercocke - Leviathan
Dissection - The Somberlain
Emperor - Empty
Venom - In League with Satan

Yeah, well just don't throw any rap metal up there and I'll be okay!

~Brian~

Seriously though, put up a modern melodic rock/metal and maybe an 80s hardrock/metal thread sometime in the future.

I don't do rap metal!!!!:Smug:
I have hairbands and melodic death on my list along with 80's pop for upcoming threads. Here are some others I am considering:
German Thrash
Bay Area Thrash
Thrash from anywhere but Germany and Bay Area
NWOBHM
Prog
Finnish Power Metal
American Power Metal
German Power Metal
Grindcore
Traditional Metal
Ballads
70's Guitar Rock
Female Fronted Metal
:zombie:

Merciful Fate- Come To The Sabbath
Cradel Of Filth- Her Ghost In The Fog
DragonLord- Sins Of Allegiance
Emperor- Empty
Twilight Ophera- Shadowdancer
Bal-Sagoth- The Obsidian Crown Unbound

Don't forget Viking metal!! :headbang:

Windir - Fagning
Emperor - The Source of Icon E
Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
Covenant - Bringer of the Sixth Sun
Borknagar - Universal
Celtic Frost - Circle of Tyrants

Well now you can all laugh at my very limited knowledge of black metal, so here goes!

Immortal - "Sons of Northern Darkness"
Finntroll - "RivFader"
Vintersorg - "Under Norrskenets Fallande Ljusspel"
Bal-Sagoth - "The Hammer of the Emperor"
In Flames - "Colony"
Teratism - "The Blessing of Death"

hmmm...

  • Emperor, "Cosmic Keys To My Creation And Times"
  • Dimmu Borgir, "The Insight and the Catharsis"
  • Cradle of Filth, "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids"
  • Immortal, "At the Heart of Winter"
  • Old Man's Child, "Soul Receiver"
  • Graveworm, "Behind the Curtains of Darkness"

Hard to limit it to just 6 here. :)

BTW, fatesmiles, a lot of Norwegian bands aren't 'black metal' because they are so much 'pro-Satan'; they are black metal because they are anti-Christian.
Why the differentiation?
Well, if your part of the world once worshipped different deities and then got subsumed/trampled/etc by the forces of Christianity, you might be a little miffed, too....
