Take all of your instruments (or better yet, old crappy expendable instruments) and put them on top of a flight of stairs. Line mics up overhead all the way down the staircase. One by one, throw your instruments down the stairs, while recording what sounds they make.

Repeat seven or eight times.

Might not want to include the vocals in that part of the songwriting process though. Thumbscrews would be better.

Practice, record, release.
