You Go BOI!!!:headbang::kickass:

Pretty cool video. :headbang: I hope they come to the area again soon in the near future. This time i'll be all over it. They seem like pretty laid back cool guys that would be great to hang out with for a weekend multi day event. I still think they would be a great band to mix up bag a little for BARfest. Thanks for sharing the video Brett. Hopefully sometime soon we can be watching Rishloo side by side slammin' some beers and doin a whole lotta this.....:kickass::kickass::kickass:

Rock On Brother!!!

Rishloo kinda reminds me of Tool in some ways. Am I the only one?

They do have that influence, no doubt. Especially vocally. But the more you listen to them the more other styles begin to emerge. Their style is much more contained which makes their albums much easier to listen too and more enjoyable imo.

NIGHTMARE
definitivly the best French Heavy Power metal band from France .... and the their new album "Genetic Disorder" is really great...Album of month in Rock Hard mag France
Don't hesitate ...Vote for NIGHTMARE @

cover_big.jpg

Picaroon's Spark! I found this Italian band today. Check them out, http://www.myspace.com/picaroons Some very good sounding stuff. More Prog. Rock feel, i heard parts reminding me of bands such as Enchant, Sieges Even, Rush.....not to mention they still manage to sound unique. Just released their debut disc last month. And from the few songs on their page....i might pick it up. :headbang:

Cheers for the heads up mate :)

Chris VP :)

Just to make sure i made some suggestions/guesses at bands for each slot for the show i seperated them into slots 1 being opener and 5 being the BIG DOGS!

And in case you all are wondering how someone can have so much time on their hands o put together this many links......i got no money....what else is there to do than listen to music?

So i figure for openers maybe one of these....

1 Gates of Light (S.F.) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=147065283, local (S.F.) progressive rock band that would definitely fit the mold.

1 Darkwater (Sweden,US Debut) http://www.myspace.com/darkwaterofficial. One band that if i was booking a festival would be among my most desired. Amazing debut release. They have gotten a ton of buzz around the net and probably would have some drawing power....and as an early slot that would be great. They are going to be huge in the genre if continue on the path they have started. On Nightmare records, we gotta have at least one band from NR.

1 Slavior (CA)-(A project by Mark Zonder/ Former Fates Warning/Warlord Drummer) Got some cool stuff on the debut. In CA so that should be good travel cost wise.

1 Cea Serin (LA) http://www.myspace.com/ceaserin This would be amazing to see. I love "...Where Memories Combine...".

1 Encompass (Virginia) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=27390543 A band that only has a demo out from 2006, they definitely would be a great opener. Kickass stuff! Go check it out.

For the #2 slot i could see at least one of these bands getting a spot.

2 Moonlight Comedy (Italy) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=89973174 Digging this band. Discovered it on an Online Radio Station a couple weeks ago.

2 Rishloo (Seattle) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=219583425 Me and SharkBlack want 'em....'nuff said. (lol)

2 Age of Nemesis http://www.myspace.com/ageofnemesis A band that i have been getting into lately. Awesome Stuff.

2 Seventh Wonder http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=102123709 Another band i newly discovered. They would be cool to check out more.

2 Icarus Witch http://www.myspace.com/icaruswitch After Icarus Witch posted a comment on this forum, i really got into their sound. They definitely are a great fit for the fest and it shows that the band wants to get a chance at a great US festival.

3 Vanishing Point (AUS) http://www.myspace.com/vanishingpointofficial

3 Sun Caged http://www.myspace.com/suncaged After their latest i really think this band would rule.

3 Tyr http://www.myspace.com/tyr1 It would not get much more awesome than catching this unique Metal band rockin out in the bay. Unlikely...probably. Kickass!...DEFINITELY!!!

3 Divinefire http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=113894260 This would be a great way to say goodbye and thanks for the great music. I found this on their website a while back.."DIVINEFIRE HOT NEWS !!!
DIVINEFIRE will record their final studio album titled FAREWELL to say thank you for the fantastic support through the years DIVINEFIRE has existed. They would definitely Rock!

3 Circus Maximus http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=73408444 They would be amazing. Too bad they are not heading out west on their mini-tour with Circle II Circle.

4 Adagio http://www.myspace.com/adagioofficial This is one that i would think has to be a front runner for a booking. New Album should be out by the fest. They already have three amazing albums. One of my favorite bands.

4 Beyond Twilight http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=70404044 Doing their whole "For the Love of Art and the Making" album....AMAZING!!! Then throw in some older stuff just to put the icing on the cake. This would be a special set that i would travel for.

4 Labyrinth http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=156393506 A band that i would think has appeal to both the Power and the Progressive fans. I love their stuff.

4 A.C.T. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=54650666 Would be an awesome selection!

4 Poverty's No Crime (Germany) http://www.myspace.com/povertysnocrime Someone suggested them in the "Who do you want..." thread and since then i have thought they would be awesome to get.

4 Zero Hour http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=4428101, ZH should just be the designated BARfest band. Hopefully they will return and destroy me again http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=2027410240 (that's me hittin' the note when the vid starts right in front of Chris....ZH RULES!!!:kickass:) This next time with a couple of new tunes!!!

I think you had the Headliner's perfect last year...one, more Prog. Rock and the other, more Prog. METAL! Hopefully the balance will be similar this year. Maybe an Angra and Sieges Even, or PoS and Evergrey. anyways here are some possibles...

5 Sieges Even (Germany US Debut) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=117252070 They HAVE to Headline!!!

5 Pain of Salvation http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=79701269 Would be a great choice if Sieges Even doesn't get the nod. I'd absolutely love to see them.

5 Freak Kitchen http://www.myspace.com/freakkitchenmusic I have been critical of their music in the past. But after their PP performance this yeah.....i've chaned my tune!

5 Shadow Gallery http://www.myspace.com/officialshadowgallery, the Miracle i will always suggest until one day they appear. this would be an exclusive performance that i would guess many would travel for. i know they don't do live shows...but someday...

5 Angra http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=108050538, hopefully last years switch didn't go down badly so Dave still wants to deal with these guys. they are one of the big names in the genres that don't regularly tour the U.S., so that's gotta have some drawing power.

5 Evergrey (should have a new album ready by then...) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=99240843 With a new album out. They would tear up the Bay.

I would love to see all of these bands, along with a TON more. These are just some of my best guesses in order to create a varied lineup that would appeal to many. If you figure that probably at least 4-6 bands will probably need to come from within the U.S. for cost reasons...what do you think could happen?

:kickass::kickass::kickass:

Hi folks,

Im NEW around here, so forgive me of my empassioned requests
for Progressive Rock and Prog Metal bands to play at this
awesome venue! I was lucky enough to attend the 1st last year
with a "Progulus" buddy of mine from SoCal.

I want to add enthusiastically some bands that are obscure (some
mentioned already) as well as bands that have been around for
sometime, re-united or may be too big but heck, lets give em' a ring!

The HUGE Bands:

1. SAGA-
Saga, I believe are in Europe doing the "Farewell Tour of Michael
Sadler", 2 members live in the San Fernando Valley as the rest live
in Canada.
As most of you know, they DO NOT Tour in the U.S. for reasons I
don't know. Wouldn't this be a GREAT way to say a last "Farewell" to
one of the greatest singers of Prog!
I suggest if any of you die-hard fans are reading this, contact Saga
at their site:
http://www.sagaontour.ca/
Saga at MYSpace!:
http://www.myspace.com/sagaca
Give it a try, I am gonna' give it my best to get their attention by
this weekend, so please try to contact them! :D

2. Kansas (/Proto-Kaw)-
What can you say, these guys are HUGE but they do alot of Faires around
the country. Either or BOTH would be a Godsend, even though I don't
think Kansas is writing new material, I would think they would LOVE to
get the new generation interested in their GREAT catalogue of music.
And to get these guys to perform the "obscure" songs! I'm sure it would
inspire them to record a NEW album ;)
http://www.kansasband.com/
Proto-Kaw:
http://www.proto-kaw.net/

3. Meshuggah!-
The mad Swedes are on tour with Ministsry, maybe they can make a
detour or they will be on their own by the time of the show. I think they
would be floored to be asked to appear.
And what more do you want but to show up at work on a Monday to
have your neck out of wack from headbanging to odd-time sigs!
http://www.myspace.com/meshuggah

4. Ayreon-
Yes, I know, it's like asking RUSH to do a festival. But hey, if he (Arjen)
wanted to make his fans swoon and gain New fans, I say THIS is
the place to do it! Just think of all the people who would fly from all over
to see them :D!
And Arjen is the kind of person who would read this stuff :worship:
http://www.myspace.com/thedreamsequencer

5. Paradise Lost-
These guys started as a Grind-core band, but throughout the years, up'ed
the tempo and became an outstanding Tech/Gothic Metal band.
Hetfield-like vocals enhance the heavy but beautiful music from the U.K.
They do alot of Festivals, lets bring them to the Bay!
http://www.myspace.com/paradiselostuk

6. Iona-
Celtic Prog from Ireland! LUSH, HUGE sounding band, from atmospheric to
technical, HIGH calibur musicianship, and GORGEOUS vocals.
I would imagine they are well known in the U.K. This would be for the die-
hard Proggers, I'm sure they would gather more fans from our shores.
Take a listen to their music, don't be fooled, they start off like a warm
breeze then turn into a Gale upon an Irish shoreline ;)

http://www.myspace.com/watchtowermetal
Probably the 1st or 2nd Inventors of "Math Metal"! If "Spastic Ink"

2nd coming!
Spastic Ink:

6. Twisted Into Form-

7. Canvas Solaris-
myspace.com/canvassolaris
Math again! from Georgia, but no words ;) great stuff!

8. Sphere of Souls-
http://www.myspace.com/sphereofsouls
Hopefully there wont be a "War" with Singer and Keyboardist
(Former SC members) against Marcel of Suncaged (hehe), but this
is a VERY good band that would just blow peoples socks off!

9. Gaia-
http://www.myspace.com/gaia
Great combination of melodic Femme vocals and technical virtuosity.
Tech/Prog Metal from Florida!

10. Thought Chamber-
http://www.myspace.com/thoughtchamber
We loved the Vocals of Enchant last year, I'm sure many have heard
"Ted Leonard" in this side project. Again, a great voice with technical
Prog Metal.

11. Katagory V-
http://www.myspace.com/katagoryv
Tech/Math Metal from Utah. These guys are really great and
awesome vocals!

. . . I can dream!

14. John Arch-
. . . I'm still asleep, don't wake me!!!

15. Lalu-
updated:
http://www.myspace.com/smellymetal
Seems Vivian Lalu is gonna put up an mp3 player soon, and they are working
on a NEW album called "Atomic Ark" :D
Be sure to check back or search for the album "Oniric Metal", this band has
soo many textures to their music, and heavy at the same time, what a
special treat it would be to have the Francs here in Ca.
(Thanx for the info Fabio!)

16. Koyaanisqatsy-
http://www.myspace.com/koyaanisqatsy1
Another great technical Instrumental Band. From germany!

17. Section 16-
http://www.myspace.com/section16
Melodic Prog Metal from Colorado, great vocalist!

18. Orphaned Land-
http://www.myspace.com/orphanedmyspace
Awesome band, combination Tech/Thrash/Death and Prog from Israel!

19. Cresent Shield-
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=38620837
Power/Prog Metal from Los Angeles, unique but great vocals.

20. Nevermore-
http://www.myspace.com/nevermorefans
These guys will set the stage on fire! Dane will tear our ears out and the
band just gets better and better. Heavieness that is tight, technicaly
brilliant and great stage presence.

21. Dominici-
http://www.myspace.com/charliedominicimusic
The Original singer for DT (technicaly the 2nd) resurrected with an excellent
band . . . what a treat it would be for the Bay!

22. CONTINUO RENACER-
http://www.myspace.com/continuorenacer
If you thought Canvas Solaris was nuts, they do it in quantum physics in
Spain! Crazy instrumentalists that could teach us a thing or to about the
new math!

23. Vox Tempus-
http://www.myspace.com/voxtempus
Like "Ice Age" as if Dennis DeYoung sang in a Prog Metal band!
Rich sounding, from melodic to technical. An awesome band from Los
Angeles. Be nice to hear from them again (not sure of their current
status).

24. Aghora-
http://www.myspace.com/Aghora
Another Technical Femme fronted Prog Metal band that is . . . GODLY! From Florida.
Lets get them out of that sunny weather into the fog :p Another band that
will make our jaws drop.

25. Mythologic-
http://www.myspace.com/mythologicmusic
What the heck! Why not see if these guys can get together for the BAR.
One of the 1st Femme fronted bands I heard with a Tech Prog Metal Band
(sorry to be-labour that, most Female vocalists seem to be in Dark Wave/
Gothic/Doom Metal bands). This band is on par with Fates Warning "Perfect
Symmetry" era.

26. Spheric Universe Experience-
http://en.sphericuniversexp.com/
They are playing ProgPower, but could they come to the Bay 1st?
Tech/Math/Prog Metal from France, you really have to check these guys out.

27. Icycore-
http://www.myspace.com/icycoremusic
Prog Metal from Italy, goes from the very melodic to very technical, have
been very popular at Progulus.com for a few years as we await their new
release with batted breath.

Bands mentioned before:
ALL are supreme bands that would make us drool!

1. Redemption
2. Cea Serin
3. Pagans Mind
4. Slaviour
5. Circus Maximus
6. Seiges Even
7. Wastefall
8. Shadow Gallery
9. Adagio
10. Riverside
11. Aghora
12. Kings X (PLEASE!!! and NEW album out in May!)
13. Paradise Lost
14. Pyramaze
15. Iced Earth
16. Spheric Universe Experience
17 Ice Age (if you have heard of them, also try . . .)
18 Vox Tempus (What are the chances of getting these guys
together o_O )

Just added:
Classic Tech/Thrash/Math Metal Bands:

1. Confessor-
http://www.myspace.com/confessorband
Can't think of any band who can play slow, yet be soo technical. One of the
BEST vocals in Metal too.

2. Realm-
http://www.myspace.com/realmendlesswar
Now supposedly they have reformed and are working on new material!
Probably my 1st Tech/Thrash/Math Metal band I ever heard next to. . .

3. Powermad-
http://www.myspace.com/powermadband
They were doing crazy riffs and odd-time sigs before Pantera, but more
tech/melodic with another great Vocalist in Thrash Metal. They are also
working on new material :D

So there is my INSANE list, I am sure I'll edit this a thousand times
so check back in, I gotta' look at my collection!

:headbang: Prog On all!

And "I am Fabio", miss you at Progulus my man :(

>>> By the way, for the most part, you can hear all these bands at Progulus.com. <<<

Just as i remember you, awesome post filled full with awesome suggestions, tons of info and personal thought. Nice to see you here MAVIII! Yeah, i should stop by Progulus more often. I do tune in from time to time. Getting my perscription for prog. goodness filled.

Love your suggestions! Although i am assuming they already probably have the lineup pretty much buttoned up for 2008. Hopefully some that you listed above make the bill. Look forward to meeting you at this years fest MAV! I'll try and stop by Progulus and say hello sometime soon. Rock On Man!!! :kickass::kickass::kickass:
