I recall a thread a long time ago about Japanese metal bands and Yukihisa Kanatani certainly qualifies. He used to be a member of Ebony Eyes & Loudstorm and has since gone solo. Musically he reminds me of Yngwie Malmsteen and the singer sounds like the vocalist from Earthshaker but I cannot find anything on the band (at least not in English). Regardless from what I've heard it's really good.
