KAMELOT 2015 - New Album "HAVEN"

seeing them in Worcester on May 1st for my birthday…looking forward to the show although its disappointing that the tour package remains the same for the 2nd leg, that'll keep me from going to CT. As for the album, I've had the promo for over a week and while its a great sounding album, there really isn't anything that really separates it from Silverthorn, but at this point the band seems like they are on autopilot

Looks like I'm headed to Louisville. I've never seen them so I figure while it's kinda close I should. I'm no huge fan of the recent Tommy material, but I'm hoping in a live setting they can convert me.

I agree. It's good, but not spectacular. It's also not PftP. :)

Insomnia video:

Lots of Tommy in a distopian future black uniform thingy. Jen'll love it!

They have been on a decline for me since Black Halo, but this sounds very refreshing. I guess having more time with Tommy to be a part of the entire writing process was a benefit. I'm sure a lot of the songs form Silverthorn were written prior to Tommy's inclusion in the band. This sounds a LOT more like his style. I had no intentions of buying this, but now I can't wait.

Are we listening to the same song? This sounds just like the last couple of albums, and the vocals continue to SCREAM Khan far more than Tommy to me.

That being said, I really do like this song, and am holding out hope that the album does more for me than the last one (solid, but not as great as what I hope top hear from this band).

I have all the Kamelot discs and I'll certainly be purchasing this one too. Thomas always does a great job making sure the design and packaging are top-notch.

I haven't been this excited about a new release in as long time.

Hopefully my local FYE has this in stock. What I heard so far blew me the F away. Far better than Silverthorn, miles better. I think they just won me back as a fan

This album is....well..It's Kamelot. On one hand that is a good thing because they really have worked their sound out and really know how to create amazing music for that sound. Everything you love about Kamelot is still there. Also it is as catchy top to bottom as any album they have released. Make no mistake about it, I have enjoyed this album the past week or so.

So why I am I still hesitant to sing it's praises without reservation? While it is very good, it is also completely safe. There are no chances taken on this album, and for a band this far into their career, it is somewhat disconcerting that they seem content to release albums that are so predictable. I understood them playing it safe on Silverthorne to keep their fans happy after losing Khan. But this is the album where they really could have let go some and tried something new with a singer that can do some new and different things.

Honestly, the last two albums have made me reexamine Poetry for the Poisoned. When it came out I thought it was very dark and not nearly as welcoming as their previous work. Now I appreciate it so much more because it is a departure in terms of sound (not huge, but noticeable). I am enjoying that album a lot lately and think Once Upon a Time is one of my favorite Kamelot songs of all time.

I dig the album, but I think you're right here. It was a safe Silverthorn II type album.

I agree as well. It's "good" but not necessarily remarkable. I really wish they would use a different producer, and maybe tone down all the reverb. It might sound good on headphones (I don't know yet), but it's really hard to digest off my car stereo....just swimming around in the murkiness.
