uurgh....the lighting during Symphony X's set was abominable..I got one pic(if someone wants to repost from the Prog Power event page on FB please doas I'm on my phone)..I just gave up

I mean, honestly. The theme of this year's photos should be "musicians who point."

Actually you can also say that the theme of this year's photos could be either "blue man group"or "smurfs go metal" because of that annoyingly atrocious blue light setup on either side of the stage,which was so strong that it made it all but impossible to take out in post
 
Last year, I got two really good photos. This year, I got five. Movin' up in the world!

It wasn't just the blues. That was the LED cans throwing that awful light through all spectrums. They would work great in the ceiling mixed with natural lights, but yes, from the side, they were my worst nightmare. However, that's just speaking as a photographer. As an observer, they were fucking AWESOME.

It really came down to picking your moments. Like the Primordial set where I guess I COULD have turned on my flash, but I relied on flashes from the audience and split second timing. I don't think it's my place as someone in the pit who's not a house photog to do that.

...I got almost nothing usable, but fuck it. I had fun shooting again.
