Part II

Dio or Sabbath(Tony Martin Era)
Dio

Dokken or Motley Crue
Crue by a LONG shot!

Megadeth or Metallica
If we're talking pre-Black album, Metallica, otherwise Megadeth

Exodus or Death Angel
Death Angel

Carcass or Death
Not a Death Metal fan...

Diamond Head or Venom
Tough one... Venom

Joe Satriani or Steve Vai
Satch

Whitesnake(70's era) or Deep Purple
Purple!

ZZ Top or Foghat
ZZ Top

Alice Cooper(band) or David Bowie
Alice Cooper band!!

Symphony X or Dream Theater
Not a fan of either...

Nevermore or Metal Church
Metal Church

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

1) Helstar or Fates Warning ?
Helstar, for Nosferatu alone.
2) Rush or Queensryche ?
Hard one. I like more Rush Albums, but probably because they have a larger catalog and not as many fuck-ups. But Queensryche made my favorite album of all time. I have to say Toss up on this one.
3) Y&T or Riot ?
Riot. THUNDERSTEEL!!!
4) Alcatrazz or Mercyful Fate ?
Mercyful Fate. My God, Melissa rules.
5) Exciter or Anvil ?
Exciter. VIOLENCE AND FORCE!!!
6) SOD or Anthrax ?
Anthrax, by far. They've made some of my all time favorites.
7) Loudness or Tokio Blade ?
Loudness, but just slightly
8) Frank Marino or Ted Nugent ?
The Nuge! Paralyzed!
9) Savatage or Iron Maiden ?
I actually am gonna go with Savatage here, believe it or not. I love Maiden, but they didn't make Dungeons Are Calling, Sirens or Mountain King.
10) Van Halen or AC/DC ?
Van Halen. I love this band, and i'm not ashamed of it. More than AC/DC even.
Dio or Sabbath(Tony Martin Era)=
Tony Martin-era Sabbath. Again, weird choice. But I absolutely love Eternal Idol, more than any Dio album, and that's counting Holy Diver.
Dokken or Motley Crue=
Dokken. THE best hair metal band ever, in my eyes. It's all about the mighty riffage and shredding of George Lynch.
Megadeth or Metallica=
Megadeth. They've made more good albums than Shitallica, aren't nearly as overplayed as they are and at their best, they can BEAT Metallica. That's right: I SAID IT!
Exodus or Death Angel=
Had Death Angel break up right after The Ultra Violence, this would be a hard choice. But they didn't, so it's not. Exodus, by a mile.
Carcass or Death=
Death. Scream Bloody Gore is better than ANYTHING Carcass has ever made and ever wish of making. Carcass sucks.
Diamond Head or Venom=
Diamond Head. Gotta love Lightning To The Nations.
Joe Satriani or Steve Vai=
Vai. I just like his more "out there" style more.
Whitesnake(70's era) or Deep Purple=
DEEP FUCKIN' PURPLE, BABY! One of my all time favorite bands!
ZZ Top or Foghat=
ZZ Top! Again, a favorite of mine.
Alice Cooper(band) or David Bowie=
Alice. I like some Bowie, but i like more Alice.
Symphony X or Dream Theater=
I'm not the biggest fan of either one, but Dream Theater.
Nevermore or Metal Church=
Fuck man, Metal Church by 3846 miles! I looove Metal Church, plus I think Nevermore sucks the big one.(sorry Hawk).

1) Helstar or Fates Warning ?

Helstar, I just happen to like them better than FW.

2) Rush or Queensryche ?

Queensryche. Never got into Rush...

3) Y&T or Riot ?

Riot, oh yes... :worship: One of my alltime favs!
Too bad they've parted ways with Mike DiMeo and Pete Perez :yell:

4) Alcatrazz or Mercyful Fate ?

Mercyful Fate, no second thoughts!

5) Exciter or Anvil ?

Exciter

6) SOD or Anthrax ?

Anthrax. As good as the first SOD is, I still consider it a fun project, nothing more...

7) Loudness or Tokio Blade ?

Never heard the latter, so Loudness.

8) Frank Marino or Ted Nugent ?

Never heard any of the two

9) Savatage or Iron Maiden ?

Iron Maiden, no doubt about it!

10) Van Halen or AC/DC ?

AC/DC, never got much into Halen.
I like a few of their songs, but not a single whole album.

1) Helstar or Fates Warning ?
I go for Fates Warning, they were among the first, if not very first band to play real prog metal ... Helstar was more pure soul metal, and still is !!
2) Rush or Queensryche ?
Queensryche for me...I'm a huge fan of their early work...But I have to say Rush made some amazing songs too (oh yeah, I love the high pitch vocals alot!!)
3) Y&T or Riot ?
Can't decide on these two, they both made some great records and should have become bigger, but seemed to run out of inspiration after some albums...
4) Alcatrazz or Mercyful Fate ?
I go for Alcatrazz, Disturbing the Peace (with Vai) is a Metal Masterpiece I think, but hey, so are Mercyful Fate albums ...
5) Exciter or Anvil ?
As I had to choose on one album it would be Anvil with "Metal on Metal", one of my all time favorits, but Exciter has overall stronger and more consistant albums, so Exciter it is...
6) SOD or Anthrax ?
SOD here, the Speak English or Die album has that extra spark that Anthrax missed sometimes.
7) Loudness or Tokio Blade ?
Loudness definitly, first Japanese albums are cult !! Now, don't let me bring down TB, a great band too !!!!
8) Frank Marino or Ted Nugent ?
Frank Marino, "Power of R'n'R' " is stronger than what Ted ever produced...
9) Savatage or Iron Maiden ?
Well, I can honoustly say I would take Savatage over IM any day. While the first IM albums are masterpieces, they bored me later on. Savatage is much more "metal" for me !
10) Van Halen or AC/DC ?
AC/DC , they stick to their roots and fans, while totaly boring to some, I find them a joy to listen to each time, fresh , pure , simple rock'n roll !! But I'm also a big VH fan, both Roth and Hagar area ! Just a note; first cassette I ever bought was AC/DC (highway to hell) and first disk VH's woman and children first...

Here's Part II
wow, some hard choices here too Sixx :err:

Dio or Sabbath(Tony Martin Era)=
I go more for Dio, but close up to Sabbath TM Era.

Dokken or Motley Crue=
Motley Crue, more fun style and music than Dokken.

Megadeth or Metallica=
hard one...nothing Megadeth ever came close to "Kill'm all", but
Dave showed Metallica his little brown hole later on :D

Exodus or Death Angel=
I refuse to choose here :headbang:

Carcass or Death=
mmm, I would go for Death, I followed them in the beginning, even have their demo somewhere I think ...

Diamond Head or Venom=
Diamond Head yeah ! Early work are pearls of NWOBHM.
I did carry patches of Venom and Diamond Head on my jeans !!!!
Black metal , yeah, THAT was black metal for real !!!

Joe Satriani or Steve Vai=
Vai, while Satriani was the teach, Vai puts more emotions in his playing I think: no one can make a guitar 'talk' like Vai !!

Whitesnake(70's era) or Deep Purple=
DP, Whitesnake was too much self repeating.

ZZ Top or Foghat=
ZZ Top !!! ermm, nothing to do with me being carnut :loco:

Alice Cooper(band) or David Bowie=
Never saw much but show in Alice Cooper. Bowie has a much more "interesting" carreer ...

Symphony X or Dream Theater=
Will wait for the next S-X to decide ....

Nevermore or Metal Church=[/QUOTE]
Metal Church, as they put up about the best concert I ever saw in the 80's...Hit me like a ton of bricks :headbang:
Nevermore are a worthy runner up though, one of the best metal bands these days!!

Here's Part II

Dio or Sabbath(Tony Martin Era)= tie!

Dokken or Motley Crue= Dokken

Megadeth or Metallica= 'Deth

Exodus or Death Angel= no vote

Carcass or Death= Death

Diamond Head or Venom= Diamond Head

Joe Satriani or Steve Vai= Satriani

Whitesnake(70's era) or Deep Purple= DP

ZZ Top or Foghat= neither

Alice Cooper(band) or David Bowie= Cooper

Symphony X or Dream Theater= SyX (by a mile!)

Nevermore or Metal Church= Metal Church

Well, getting back to "real" oldschool stuff, here are some difficult choices I put on ya... just choose the best of two bands each time in your opinion. 2) Rush of course!
3) Riot
4) I will go with Alcatrazz only because I don't like MF, but I'm not into them either
5) Exciter
6) Antrax (with Belladona and up to POT)
7) Tokyo fucking Blade!
8) none
9) Iron Maiden up to 1988 anyway
10) AC/DC, but just because I don't like VH (like 4)

1) Helstar or Fates Warning - HELSTAR
2) Rush or Queensryche - QUEENSRYCHE
3) Y&T or Riot - Y&T
4) Alcatrazz or Mercyful Fate - MERCYFUL FATE (but Alcatrazz is great and so is Impellitteri!)

Alice Cooper(band) or David Bowie - ALICE COOPER
Symphony X or Dream Theater - DREAM THEATER
Nevermore or Metal Church - METAL CHURCH by long shot

nice thread! hehe

Here's Part II

Dio or Sabbath(Tony Martin Era)=

Early era Dio rules. I give Dio the slight edge.

Dokken or Motley Crue=

Crue.

Megadeth or Metallica=

Megadeth never pussed out as bad as Metallica, but nothing they wrote can touch RTL - AJFA era. Metallica.

Exodus or Death Angel=

D.A.

Carcass or Death=

Death. Cool technical band. Great musicians.

Diamond Head or Venom=

Venom

Joe Satriani or Steve Vai=

Hmmm.... Satch slightly

Whitesnake(70's era) or Deep Purple=

DP

ZZ Top or Foghat=

ZZ by far

Alice Cooper(band) or David Bowie=

I like Alice much better, but Bowie gets kudos for being maybe even MORE shocking than AC in his day. The guy had a heavy hand in starting glam, and then decided to start new wave. Still gotta go with Coop though.

Symphony X or Dream Theater=

SX will probably never write anything comparable to "Images and Words," but their body of work is better than DTs as a whole. I'll go with SX.

Nevermore or Metal Church=

Metal Church was God !!

Here's Part II

Dio or Sabbath(Tony Martin Era)= Black Sabbath (I suppose is Dio solo career)
Dokken or Motley Crue= none
Megadeth or Metallica= Megadeth (overall)
Exodus or Death Angel= Death Angel
Carcass or Death= I will go with Death even if I don't like that music
Diamond Head or Venom= Diamond Head
Joe Satriani or Steve Vai= TIE
Whitesnake(70's era) or Deep Purple= Deep Purple any given day
ZZ Top or Foghat= none
Alice Cooper(band) or David Bowie= Alice fucking Cooper!
Symphony X or Dream Theater= Dream Theater
Nevermore or Metal Church=
Metal Church

Dio or Sabbath(Tony Martin Era)= DIO

Dokken or Motley Crue= DOKKEN

Megadeth or Metallica= METALLICA (never undertood the big deal about Megadeth, the first couple albums were ok at best)

Exodus or Death Angel= tie

Carcass or Death= none

Diamond Head or Venom= right now today I would pick Venom, been getting back into them as of late.

Joe Satriani or Steve Vai= none

Whitesnake(70's era) or Deep Purple= I liked "Slide It In" and "Perfect Stranger"... that's about it, so it's a tie.

ZZ Top or Foghat= none

Alice Cooper(band) or David Bowie= Cooper. Bowie is even more overrated than the Beatles and Zeppelin. He's nothing but a thief. He ripped off T-Rex, then put on some new wave clothes to fit in during the 80's, then started Tin Machine to fit in during the 90's.

Symphony X or Dream Theater= either, don't care

Nevermore or Metal Church= METAL CHURCH!!!!!!

Though i must say....i kinda dig Tin Machine. Their first album, anyway. But maybe that's just me. I like it more than alot of Bowie's solo career.

Same with me, but it was because of the band he put together not because of Bowie himself. However I still didn't like it enough to buy it.
