Metal to me is an autonomous genre (not a subgenre of rock like some belief) that often champions the empowerment of the individual and kicks the shit out of everything else on the heaviness scale. It's also the most impressive genre.

No. A lot of metal bands dont put talent into song writing. If feel that metal is the only genre to perform those tasks then you really have not listened to a lot of music.

I really dont think metal means that much to me. Metal is my first love but I never really started enjoying music a lot until I found out about all the other genres of western music.

metal takes more talent than pop or rap.or pretty much any other type of rock. at the same time ive never heard a doom metal band and thought, oh they are sooo talented! i guess that comes with the territory.
