PP USA VII: DVD News

That's really shitty. Not that I'm a fan of Jorn, but I think it sucks that because one person says no that all others have to go along with it.

What happened to Democracy?

That's too bad that one has to ruin it for many. I understand not wanting to have your own set on there, but ego, perfectionism, disappointment aside, I still think having to forgo the stars finale really bites ass.

Unfortunately, business isn't usually about Democracy. If you think about it, business is usually a tyranny of the minority (a few like a board/partners/artists or the one boss/owner/artist). You want democracy in business, join a co-op. But, if someone were to make a Democracy-fest, I doubt that the artists/bands would go for not being able to do what they want to do, if the majority doesn't agree with them. Funny thing is, I once heard someone say that "Democracy is the tyranny of the majority", so there's draw backs to both. That's why Anarchy is the only solution! :p Anarchy Metal Fest! :headbang:

I wonder if that means scrapping all "extra" footage where Jorn appears? Be it backstage or signings, etc. I'm guessing yes.

That sucks even more.

I know that... just a general bitch is all.

This sucks, but could have been worse. My favorite bands are still involved with the DVD. Good try Glenn, I can tell this isn't making you happy.

Well Holy Fucking Hell. I bought my copy just because it said Jorn was gonna be on it. So much for true advertising!

Especially odd given how easy Glenn commented he was to sign for the fest and how open-minded he was of the "Stars" idea.

Zod

He's a perfectionist, not unlike Jon Schaffer. ;)

I can only guess that Jorn has a specific image of how he wants to present himself, his band, and his music to the fans and music industry on video. A one-off concert at in a festival environment half-way across the world probably didn't give him as many options as he would have liked (e.g. hand picked crew, lighting design, venue, stage designers, set list, etc.,).

That said, it's still a bummer that not one song of his will appear on the video. But for non-Jorn fans, that would seem to mean more space for more songs from other bands.

The actual concert footage is essentially complete. However, the backstage footage still has to be looked at. I do not have a specific timeline for the release yet, but we are still hoping for a December release. The tracklisting and a preview clip should be available by the end of the week.

Alright! I can't wait! Thanks for the update!

Does anyone know which bands are choosing to release their entire performances on their own? I think I read that Freak Kitchen is gathering more footage for a DVD so I'm pretty sure they'll be doing their own thing with it...anybody have news on anyone else?

Anyway, I'm pumped for this. :headbang:

Freak Kitchen recorded two shows recently performed on back-to-back nights December 1 & 2 at the same theater in Gotheburg where Evergrey recorded "A Night To Remember." From what their website says, they plan to use that material for a DVD to be released in 2007.

So much for true advertising!

This is 100% untrue. It was never advertised as such here on the forum (feel free to search the archives) or at the venue. It always a band choice as we filmed it and then gave them the opportunity afterwards. In Jorn's case, he took the hard drive and the film with him and there it remains.

I'm not talking about this forum or yourself Glen. I know you had no control of this, i'm talking about the Liquid Lounges PP page that stated for many months now that jorn was indeed going to be on it. Since the announcemnet was made on this discussion board i am responding to it here, that's all!!

I hope Mercenary's version of Cowboys from Hell and Glenn diving off the stage is on the DVD. That was classic.

I believe it was mentioned on the forum before that the CFH cover would not make it because of the licensing involved. I wouldn't be surprised if the stage dive was still featured, though I'd guess it'd be to different music. :)

Two artists have chosen not to participate: Leatherwolf & Jorn.

The two bands I like at the festival :erk: I guess I skip the DVD then. Damn Jorn always so unbereable, if it wasn't or the astounding music the guy would be a major ass.

As for Leatherwolf is damn sad! I got converted by their live performance, I ended with all their records and it's a band I have love to discover finally, a sheer pity that Wade decided to bail out. At least he sign my record booklet
