First Confirmed Dates for JOP/CIIC/Manticora U.S. tour

I may get shot down for this, but I don't care. I want you all to know that I have worked my ASS off for the past 6-7 months trying to route, re-route, and re-route again this tour due to many different reasons and obstacles. The bands have been nothing less than wonderful to work with, and I have enjoyed working with Intromental Management - in particular Glenn, Claus, and Lars. This has definitely been a learning experience in a good way.

All I can ask you - as a fan - to do is purchase your tickets NOW for these dates. SUPPORT this tour. If you want to see more ProgPower style bands such as Manticora coming from Europe to tour the states, support them NOW. You cannot afford to wait until 'next time'. Because when there's not enough support the first time, there may not be a next time.

Always support what I can here in Raleigh and the surrounding area, and hit the road when plausible.

Will certainly be there Oct 11 with death being the only reason I would not...well, close to the only reason, one must also include the occasional ill timed hospitalization....lol..

Tuff business...one that would frustrate me to no ends and likely have me on the top of a very tall tower shooting at very small people......

...the hard work is always appreciated!!!

This was a major bummer for us. We looked forward to having these three bands in our home town. Now, we'll have to catch them in Detroit, which is always a pain in the butt due to construction, traffic, questionable neighborhoods, etc.

Thanks for doing your best to try to find another venue in Grand Rapids.

By the way, I just found out the reason why the gig at The Intersection was canceled. According to general manager Scott Hammontree (who replied to my e-mail this afternoon):

That concert was cancelled due to the promoter not meeting the requirements for the rental use of the building for that date. Thank you.

Well, the local promoter (Scott Weeler) sold only 25 tickets in the first few months (although he earlier on had told us he had sold 100) and according to him it wasn't possible for him to go on with the show since the venue demanded a lot of money for the rental and the bands of course also had to get paid.

I guess there's no one to blame, but as Hoyt said it is VERY important that you all go buy your tickets upfront if you want these shows heading your way!!!!
 
I agree with Yippee I cant buy tickets til probably the door unfortunately since my going will depend on how much money I spend in Atlanta. The Saint Louis date is two days after so I dont have time to work up more cash, not to mention its a 5 hour drive from where I live, so I need to get Kashford to go with me to be able to afford the gas.

If you have a problem with the fact that this tour only covers half of the US, I strongly suggest you do something about it instead of complaining. Go ahead and book a tour ... I'd love to see you do a better job at it than what Hoyt has done. Oh right, you just wanted to bitch - nice one :puke:

This is a general statement so no one in particular needs to take direct offense--but if you feel guilty or feel like you must defend yourself then obviously this is aimed at you.

I don't care who you are or what experience you have in the music industry--I have a front row seat to the amount of work my dad is doing with this tour. I see the frustrations and disappointments he has to put up with while venue owners and promoters can't give a straight answer and have their asses on their shoulders about something that may or may not make them a good profit and I see the amount of bitching and moaning when fans can't get their way on a band coming to a city of their choice or a coast they live on. I tell ya what, you give a check to Intromental with the full amount due for one of these shows and see if YOU break even in the end and are able to bring a ProgPower style band back to your area. If anyone has a damn problem with it, you can get off your asses and either help or do it yourselves.

Thats all Im gonna say about it, you can deal with it or you can leave it alone.
 
I don't believe anyone who knows Hoyt, Claus, Glenn, Lars, or anyone associated with Intromental, thinks there's any loafing going on. Hoyt worked his ass off to make this tour happen, and he tried his absolute best to reschedule the gig in Grand Rapids. It's not his fault, or the fault of anyone associated with Intromental, that the gig fell through.

Fans (like myself) always want tours to come to their home towns. That's human nature. Part of that is selfish in that we don't like to drive 2, 3, or more hours to a gig. Part of it is pride in that we love to say the bands were in our home town. But in either case, I don't think it's bitching or complaining.

Real fans, especially those who love prog/power metal bands, and especially those who know the caliber of work performed by Intromental personnel, are cool with the process, and know how hard it is -- especially in this shitty economy -- to pull off a successful tour.

I'm grateful that Hoyt is behind the wheel on the Jon Oliva/CIIC/Manticora tour. I can't think of more capable hands in which to leave such a monumental undertaking.

My hat is off to you, Hoyt. And Claus. And everyone helping to make this tour happen. My wife and I will definitely drive to Detroit. This is a gig we wouldn't miss for anything. Thank you for making it possible for us to see these bands in our state! :kickass:
