Was checking out Marco Minnemann's profile on Wikipedia. Although there is no OFFICAL word from the band. It seems TODAY Marco will officially be joining Dream Theater. I also saw this on DT's Wiki page earlier but it is now gone... We will have to wait and see. Marco would be a great fit for DT though, he's a monster!!! Check out some of his stuff on YouTube...

As awesome of a drummer as Minnemann is, I don't think he has the gig. He admitted to being one of the illustrious seven drummers who had a formal audition with the band, but I think that he has openly stated that he didn't get the job. I'm pretty sure that his ONE show with Rudess is really just a coincidence, or at the very least, a ploy that would cause speculation. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think Dream Theater would make such a predictable move.

I would have to agree. People are going crazy over this and I don't think DT would hire him or Labrie's drummer due to the fact of it being way too predictable.

I don't have any insight into any of the potential candidates or whom DT may have decided on. But I have to say that forming what should become a long term business relationship, and friendship, I wouldn't think anyone would be discounted just because they are the "predictable" choice.

I still think it's Mike Mangini. He's already had experience working with LaBrie on his first solo album. Plus he's cancelled all further teaching classes at Berklee. And his website and facebook are down for reconstruction. While they may be just coincidences, I think those are some signs he might have gotten the job. Either way I'd be shocked if it wasn't one of these three who got it:

Perhaps I should've re-phrased it. Considering how long it's been for them to release the name, I would be surprised it would be either of those two drummers opposed to someone who hasn't collaborated with someone from Dream Theater. Predictability by itself definitely does not play a part in it.

lol, Dream Theater seems to have entered studio now, (or at least JP) and still no official news about the new drummer. I remember that somebody said here that perhaps they will tell new drummer's name pretty late, like when the whole shit will be ready in studio... at first I didn't believe that, but now this seems to be possible.:Shedevil: ''ups I did it again, I played with your heart'' they play with our hearts lol. From now on I will ignore all the forums,official sites, twitter and other shit like that and forget completely about DT, becouse they are cruel lol.

like i said they take themselves way too seriously and actually THINK that people give a f*ck who it is and that it's going to have to affect on their fan base or career trajectory. i will say it again, announce the drummer already so we can all move on and stop reading stupid news articles on everything BUT what everyone seems to be concerned with. hahaha. i love them, but they are so lame sometimes.

I agree they take themselves too seriously, but do you honestly think that people don't give a fuck about who the new DT drummer is? If people didn't, we wouldn't be talking about it. I do think it's time for them to announce it though. Shit's gone on way too long and honestly, I think waiting too long may hurt them more than help them. It should've been announced once they started going into the studio.

If you love them like you said, you'd know that their fanbase (and I mean the thousands of fanboys) care about every fucking thing that happens with that band.... Every lame and obnoxious supergroup they're in, every parallel project, every bit of news, every friggin' fart they let out. I'm sorry Matt, but to say that people really don't give a fuck who it is sounds a bit naive to me..
