A fellow UM'er burned me a copy of this album from 2001 and I am absolutely blown away by it. I've always thought of Borknagar as a pure Black Metal band (without hearing them), but after reading some reviews I got be interested in them. And while there are the standard Black Metal-isms...
If you are familiar with all of the Borknagar albums, could you offer a decription of the variances between them. For example, more Proggish, more Black, faster, slower, more screaming, less screaming, more/less clean singing, etc.
Thanks!
A fellow UM poster hooked me up with a copy of "The Archaic Course" and I am quite impressed with every single thing on this album, especially the clean vocals. I will definitely be investing a lot more time into getting to know this band.
Have they ever toured the U.S. before?
Does anyone know if Skolnick ever actually recorded any material as this band? I remember reading that the material was supposed to be a combination of Living Colour-meets-Rush, so that really sounded interesting.
One of the greatest Stephen King short stories EVER is in post-production and should be released around November of this year! Fantastic news!!

I'm sooo seeing this the first night it is out, and I can't remember the last time I did that...
I was wondering if anyone could answer this. I have many a credit card (and many a credit card bill:) ), so ordering off of Ticketmaster.com is no problem. But I wanted to know if there are any Ticketmaster outlets left in the Chicago area anymore? There was one at Tower records but that...
Does anyone have this album that came out in 2005? I like King's X and I am a fan of Reb Beach's guitarwork, moreso his stint in Dokken and not so much his work in Winger.
If you have heard this then I'd rather you talk it up because I can't download anything.
Any thoughts?
I was wondering what the venue can hold for the max as far as people goes for the attendance...
And what are the realistic expectations as to how many peeps are going to show.
?
"Touching The Earth" from the album "Convergence".
I love the Convergence album as a whole, but this song from the moment I heard it, is beyond amazing. This song would be what I consider complete and utter perfection, from start to finish. Chuck Billy's vocals (as usual) are brilliant...
First post here!
I worked at Impulse Music in Chicago for 3 1/2 years and a few years back I had a guy walk in and start to talk about you guys. He went out to his car and brought in one of your albums (Trinity?) and I popped it in. He desrcibed it as Dream Theater meets Metallica...
Does anyone have anything by this band? I have their self-titled album from 1998 and I love it. It is a great mix of Pop, punk and Hard Rock with great choruses and interesting occasional instrumentations (trumpets...?) They are by far the most musical band I have seen on the 2nd stage at an...

He was Ronald Reagan's best man. Awesome actor who didn't live long enough.

This is going back a bit, but for those familiar with his work he was definitely ahead of his time. He conveyed much more of a sense of realism and cynicism than the majority of the pretentious stars of the 1950's. And IMO he is the most...
It was stated on the Illinois Entertainer ads for the Sept.30th show at the Pearl Room that Ion Vein is opening.
With no singer still, is this happening?
I was listening to an old album the other day (I'll get to which one in a second), and I thought that one of the songs would be a cool set addition at PP as a cover. So I thought this thread would be a good idea to have for people to think about what would be a good cover song and for which 1...
I know Zach Stevens will be playing some 'Tage material at the Pre-Party, and that'll be awesome...but how about we throw in our $0.02 for three requests that we'd love to hear?
For me:
1) He Carves His Stone
2) Symmetry
3) Miles Away
Tage did the first half of "He...
