I think I first heard that nickname at PP V when Wuthering Heights played and it stuck with me. Kind of fits his voice.

He does indeed sounds quite a bit like a "angry" Dio, but as he sings "angry" most of the time, he's less varied than Dio, so he doesn't sound that much like him if that makes sense...

In fact, I love his voice, but always think he should vary it more and use his cleaner, softer voice more often.

You should check out his other band, WUTHERING HEIGHTS. Honestly, it's his best work (folky/ballsy power metal a la Blind Guardian). Also, he is one of the best lyricists in metal!!

I wouldn't call it self parody, but man I had to do a double-take when I heard Astral Doors the first time!

So, you prefer his Lions Share albums?
As I explained above, for me, he doesn't that much like Dio because of the way he sings. Sure, he's got the same style, but not the exact same voice.
