Circle II Circle - Feb 2nd - Exclusive Atlanta Show!

EbS did great last night, as did OC and CIIC. That was a killer show and night. Thanks to everyone that came out!!!!! And thanks to Hoyt and Glenn for putting it together.

I enjoyed CIIC...opened with my favorite song by them...and the Savatage material was great.

Was impressed with Odin's Court...you guys should have taken the soundman out back & kicked his ass...way too much happening on stage for him to keep up with. Ditch the sax player and get a lead vocalist. Just an honest critique...don't kill the messenger.

Great show tonight. Thanks to all the bands for bringing their A game....

.....Odin's Court for making the trip.

Lady K doing the moves with Odin's Court.

Thanks to Rick for inviting me to be part of their set! The involvement with Odin's Court was discussed literally at load-in -- when I walked in I had no idea I'd be doing anything other than enjoying the show, but if it added to the experience for anyone, I'm glad to have been part of it! All the OC guys showed insane amounts of talent, both technical and showmanship-wise.

Heck, all the bands kicked ass last night. For some reason the sets seemed shorter than normal. But that might be because I was enjoying myself so much. When is the next one? :)

Was a very good show by all bands. I had to cut out a bit early during CIIC's set. Which was good, because I had a hard time staying awake on the drive home.

BTW. The new Evergrey song kicks ass. It has the aggression and mood of some of their older work. Can't wait to hear the full album.

JOP stuff sounded really good but I had a hard time hearing it.

GREAT SHOW! Thanks, Pathfinder for putting this one on. It was definitely worth the trip.

It was cool to meet so many new people this time, too and thanks Kathy & Scootie Pie for being our hostesses with the mostesses. Had a blast!

Until the next one ....

Im surprised you guys didn't friggin pass out with that new stage attire. Sheesh.

We almost did.....I had to drink like 48 oz of water when we finished. We SUFFER for the metal. That's what metal is about. If you're not SUFFERING for it, it's not metal. Unless you're Patrick, and he suffers because he cuts himself. You know, because he has that emo haircut. But everyone knows that's not metal. I heard he bought his jeans at Express, in the ladies department.

I thought y'all were supposed to deliver the suffering, not wear it.

Just sayin'... ;)

I wish I could've been there. =

We were actually wondering if any of y'all from SC were gonna make it. We missed ya. (But, we will be improving our aim. :) )

Agreed...and the beginning sounded really heavy, very reminiscent of, say, Sepultura. :headbang:

JOP stuff sounded really good but I had a hard time hearing it.

The first song sounded great. It seemed like the volume might have been vut (for stage setup reasons) early during the second song...and both JOP songs were quieter than the Evergrey song, which was loud enough for me to put my earplugs back in. :)

Beat me to it!

It was a great show from all the bands. Many thanks to Hoyt and Glenn and all for engineering a great evening of metal. :kickass:

For a relatively young band (18-21 or so), I thought EbS did a fine job. Their future's so bright, they'll have to wear shades, which they can get from Sean S.
Odin's Court also did a great job, although they're not quite as young as EbS. --Except their keyboardist, who we thought might have been borrowed from EbS or something; he was young. :)
(Turns out that he's 21 but looked 16...and has been playing keys since he was 5 and is classically trained. Very cool.)
Halcyon Way delivered the suffering. Actually, no, they delivered, very well. Great show and it looked as if Kris cleans up well in those black coat thingies y'all were wearing. (Note: the first time I met Kris, he was in the audience with me watching a Halcyon Way show...and he was wearing the same evil-looking Nile t-shirt design that I had chosen "to look menacing and stand out from the crowd." Ooops.)
Circle II Circle were great, too. I missed the first song or so since we'd stepped outside for a not-so-quick bite from the bar, but hearing "Edge of Thorns" was a pleasant surprise (although I agree, it would have been cool to hear "Handful of Rain" too).

I got some video, but have no idea what it looks (or more importantly, sounds) like yet. New camcorder, and this was its first test in a concert setting.

Thanks again to Hoyt and Co.!

Savatage songs played were:
Edge of Thorns
Taunting Cobras
This Isn't What We Meant (The one he said he hasn't played since 1996)
He Carves His Stone
Conversation Piece

I thoroughly enjoyed the show the other night, so kudos to Hoyt and Pathfinder Promotions! :worship:

I have one question though. I've seen CIIC live twice within the last two years and I'm wondering why they don't perform Out of Reach during their live sets?

Hearing Zak perform Taunting Cobras was a friggin' treat! :headbang:

Brian,

thanks again for making the drive down. And like I told grogg elsewhere, the next time you make it down here - for any show - please look me up. I'd like to buy you a [insert favorite adult beverage].

To everyone else: :worship: THANK YOU ALL!!! I'll be posting my thoughts and comments on the show later today. I had to spend Sunday mostly at home resting and recuperating. Whew! What a night! :)
