Mics with a dented grille (421's)?

Quick question for everyone...do you think some dents in the grill from stick hits on mics like a 421 will affect it's sound or performance? I'm looking to purchase a few 421's, and I've found some used, but they do have some dents here and there from stick hits. The owner claims they work fine and such. These are mid-80's to early 90's models I think (any difference in them and the new ones)? Thanks!

Thanks...do you know if there's any difference in the older 421's and the newer ones they make now?

The newer ones are 'mkII' IIRC.

Thanks...just curious if there was any tonal difference. If no one sees any problem with mics with dented grille"s, I'll go ahead and check into the ones I'm being offered.

Very true...I've never owened any 421's before, so I'm pretty unfamiliar with them. I assume the grill's are easily removable?

me either but i assume they must be, or how else would you get inside the capsule
