Final 2 Headliners

I think if Nevermore was ever thought of to be brought back it should be for the Showcase. In terms of headliners I was guessing Iced Earth and the return band being one of these bands- Kamelot,Symphony X,Blind Guardian,Brainstorm

I don't understand how anyone can say that they shouldn't do it, & that it'd not be advantageous for them to do so!? WTF??? They have never headlined this country; their homeland, & it's about damn time that they did! & what better place to start than PPUSA??

Iced Earth have headlined at least 2 tours in the US I have been to one with Barlow they closed for In Flames and Jag Panzer and I saw them twice with Ripper once in Philly with Evergrey and COB and in Pittsburgh with Beyond the Embrace and Trivium

HELLOWEEN anybody?

I know they've toured in the US in the past, but they couldn't even pull together a North American tour on their last CD while they made it into nearly every other country possible on that tour. They have the new CD coming out in a week and could work a ProgPower appearance into a tour like many of the bands did this year? Thoughts?

I'm anxiously awaiting their US tour with Gamma Ray

I could not disagree with you more. I think he has an amazing voice, sings with passion, and doesn't "scream" (save for an occassional monkey fuck howl).

Or, as we call them, "zoological outbursts."

David D.'s a great singer.
According to my friends* who opened for Disturbed, he's a nice guy, too.
--Even if he didn't show up at the Chicago show, he was on the guestlist and everything. 'Course, we were all doing 'zoological outbursts' and other Disturbisms backstage, so if he had walked in...oops..... :heh:

I think it may be:
Iced Earth - considering new release Framing Armageddon
Within Temptation - we need one female voice in the festival

Within Temptation - we need one female voice in the festival

why? There hasn't been one in a few ProgPowers of the past. Within Temptation also just recently did a tour (okay so did S.A. and they headlined...). Also, W.T. had never gotten back to Glenn in the past. So yah its a possibility but.. I don't think its necessary.

I think it will be Iced Earth playing both concept albums together. That seems big enough

That's actually something I was thinking about when I was thinking of who was a big enough name in the Genre to headline - I thought Iced Earth, and then I thought of what would make it special...and thought Framing Armageddon and Revelation Abomination played together, and then some other tunes perhaps at the end....

This gets my vote.

No Iced Earth would be amazing

And dont forget they are terribly boring :zombie:

I agree. Disturbed is a pretty good band - and they're absolutely COMMANDING live. They put on quite a show, seen them twice so far and wouldn't hesitate to see them again.

Well Glenn's comments have inspired two thoughts in my brain:

First:

Nevermore, third time is a charm. If Glenn has nothing against them, then I say FUCK YEAH!!

Second:

The dont hold your breath comment regarding the Helloween/Gamma Ray US tour absolutely breaks my heart. However that would also free up both of them to possibly headline one of the days next. I am not saying Helloween one night and Gamma Ray the other I am saying only one of the bands with Iced Earth or Nevermore headlining the other day.

Nevermore is great and everything, but you can pretty much see them in the US every year. They're just not worth the PPSUA headlining slot.

I love some Kamelot, Edguy, Symphony X, Pain of Salvation, Evergrey and Angra, but they've all played PPUSA or other US dates enough recently to lessen their impact (it's how I felt about Sonata Arctica this year). If we have to go back to the well the only band I'm dying to see again is Therion (well, them and PC69 and Nightingale, but those aren't headline-caliber acts...the Showcase, however...)

We're talking headliners, people, and there just aren't that many bands who fit the bill.

Iced Earth would work (even though I've seen them pre and post-Barlow).

Gamma Ray and Helloween would work too (with tour-mates Axxis for the Showcase).

Saxon, Fates Warning, or Pretty Maids would all be great from an old school point of view. Rhapsody would work too, I suppose, but dear god they've been releasing the same album over and over for a decade now. Booking a reunited Cynic or Atheist would be very impressive, though probably too extreme for a lot of folks.
