Iced Earth tour dates...

heh...check the timestamps, your admission of your error and my harping were posted almost simultaneously. I'm a pretty fast typist, but I had no chance to see your response before I posted mine.
No worries. Sometimes the nature of these boards gets in the way of the normal stream of a conversation.

No, of course not, that was supposed to be humorous hyperbolic imagery, intended to at least make you crack a smile, not get all huffy!
It's been a real shit day at work. Please don't take my pissy mood personally.

Too bad the timing on these isn't a little different; I'm going to be in NYC (and DC!) in September, but not those dates, and I think it would've been great to sit down and have a beer at one of these shows!
That would have been cool.

Only way I see them again is if they play Raleigh as I see no point in traveling to be disappointed.

Well....I was so-so when Framing Armageddon came out but I was recently listening to it the other week and found myself really enjoying it....in retrospect, a solid effort with nice flow.
Now, Crucible of Man was just god awful....and I did listen to that as well recently...not even close to FA.

Their PP performance....tedious at best.
I was severely disappointed as the last time I caught them they were awesome.
Trav came to that PP to see Iced Earth as Dark Saga was the first album he ever bought and was a big fan for many years and had never seen them.
He was not all that impressed, to say the least. (At least he got to see JOP and Riverside kick ass that year).

Be interesting to see what their next release is like...though I am not holding my breath.

Zod - Sons of Liberty is only an opening band! :heh:

I've seen IE twice - once with Ripper in Philly and once with Barlow at PP. I was REALLY looking forward to seeing Barlow, and I wasn't all that impressed. I'm hoping that it was just a down performance. I'd like to see them again, and will try and make the NY trip. I just wish it wasn't a week after PP.

If the setlist is anything like this one they played in Brazil this past February, it would be worth going.

In Sacred Flames
Behold the Wicked Child
Burning Times
Declaration Day
Violate
Pure Evil
Dracula
Melancholy (Holy Martyr)
Ten Thousand Strong
Stormrider
The Hunter
Prophecy
Birth of the Wicked
The Coming Curse
----------------------------
Dark Saga
A Question of Heaven
My Own Savior
----------------------------
Iced Earth

Only way for me is if they play Dante's Inferno but unless I hear they play it at the DC show I won't be going to the HOB show. The other problem for me is that it is the same day as one of the Roger Waters - Wall shows and there's NO WAY IN HELL I'm missing that.

Oopsies. I meant they were better at progpower than at powerfest. Obviously I haven't fully woken up yet today.

No fuckin way, maybe you should have been in front of the rail with me!!!! That set is my second favorite set ever besides JOP at PP IX.

Thats me directly to the left of Jon wearing my PP VIII shirt

I'm in that picture too, right in the front in front of Matt, wearing my white and black Annihilator shirt. That performance blew me away, and yes, I think it was better than the Progpower performance. I remember both of us as giddy as a little fucking girl when that set was over, hahahahahahah!

I was as giddy as catholic priest at a altar boy church retreat in the mountains totally away from all other adults

Iced Earth's Powerfest performance was the worst IE performance I have ever seen (I have seen them 5 times total)

It wasn't all the band's fault though as there were major sound issues throughout. Maybe you didn't know if you were up front, but the vocals cut out about 4 or 5 times throughout the set.

Also, Matt seemed very uncomfortable just "standing" on stage during the instrumental parts of songs, as opposed to headbanging when he had his long mane. Sounds petty, but his hair was a major visual factor of an older Iced Earth gig.

If it was your first IE gig, then yeah, I suppose it would have been a good show for ya. No one I ever talked to who has seen them previously thought much of that performance.

I had seen them prior to that performance, and I still stand by my opinion of it being a great performance.
