Rumblings from the Machine at AA

Re: the article, what about CircleIICircle? No mention of Zakk Stevens being the front man to the worst of the Savatage catalog? ;)

    Luca Turilli

Definitely a standout song. Shame these Italians don't sing in Italiano all the time - it's a beautiful sounding language and works much better in symphony laden music than, say, English.

Rage Rage Rage Rage Rage Rage Rage Rage Rage!!!!!

Are you saying that Blind Guardian and Angra are Helloween clones? What, do you like own 3 CD's or something?

    Rank the PP4 bands

    1. Symphony X - brilliant, but I've seen them four times already... 2. Evergrey - not bad, but certainly not as good as everyone makes out. The albums all sound VERY similar. 3. Vanden Plas - average, but not worth driving 8 hours to see. Let's hope for war so they drop out again and get...

    My question is

Yeah, this coming from a guy who's only contribution to any thread are the words, "Tight Huh?". Not funny, just annoying and juvenille. In fact, I'm surprised you haven't been thrown out for trolling this board.

    RAGE,SYMPHONY X, NIGHTWISH and etc..

I agree - this could be the worst PP line up yet. PP2 was better than this. Sorry - but this is weak. I know some people will like this lineup, but not me. Am I complaining? yes. It's because I raised my hopes. My fault I know.

    Luca Turilli

 Sorry JimLotFP! I asked specifically about those songs because: i) Gargoyles is the 20 minute epic with huge symphonies and female choirs thoughout - very dark for Rhapsody ii) Lamento Eroico was sung entirely in Italian. It was a slight departure again due to the language change, but...

    Stratovarious Question

WHAT THE...? You really think the lyrics to Paradise are good? Are we all talking about the same song here? Late at night I find myself again wondering and watching tv. I can't believe what's on the screen, something that I wouldn't like to see. Many rare species will perish soon...

    Geoff Tate for ProgPower?

Are you serious? The Geoff Tate album could be one of the worst CD's of all time. Not only that, but his attitude in not wanting anything else to do with metal is a joke. That man is nothing without Chris DeGarmo - as proved by his solo 'effort'. It ranks alongside Tolkki's Hymn to Life IMO.

    Heavenly fans in here !

'twas good indeed. But better than Avantasia? Now that is timeless....(part 1).

Best band Ever at Any Prog Power?

Edguy ripped the place apart. That was phenomenal - the USA needs more shows with that kind of band/audience adrenalin rush! They were very cool guys too - easy to talk to. If memory serves me right, it looked like 99% of the crowd were digging the Edguy performance.

Does 'extreme metal' have a place in ProgPower?

There is ALWAYS moshing at an Opeth gig. And the ProgPower venue does not allow moshing anyhow.

    Nightwish!

I just have Oceanborn, and that alone makes me want to see Nightwish live. Followed swiftly by Arch Enemy, just for the female vocal contrast.

    Any Lost Horizon fans?

The new Lost Horizon (band image aside) is shockingly good. The debut was astounding, but this is a worthy follow up. Great guitar work and vocals.

Make PP4 the best: GET MANOWAR

Right - which I guess contradicts the business side of making PP more succesful and more attractive to a wider audience. But if that means bringing over big (and bigger) names from Europe, then that's fine by me.

Does 'extreme metal' have a place in ProgPower?

Absolutley. But Opeth are certainly the more obvious choice. And if they didn't headline, they'd probably only be able to squeeze in 3-4 songs. Opeth headlining at PP4 would be a step in a fantastic direction. Especially back to back with Iced Earth. But I would also take Soilwork...

There's one song in particular on SoEL - "Tower of the Abyss". The strings sections perhaps rank alongside Vivaldi. What did you think of Power of the Dragonflame - in particular, "Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness" or "Lamento Eroico"?

Make PP4 the best: GET MANOWAR

Not 'most' music, ALL music. It's a source of entertainment - that's it. Listening to metal does not pay the bills. I'm shocked at how some people actually find the time to be offended by the fact that others might like Gamma Ray or Heavenly etc. Didn't these 'arguments' carry on 12 months...

Does 'extreme metal' have a place in ProgPower?

Opeth are magnificient, but do they deserve a place on the ProgPower roster? I'm quite sure they do, but are the crowd ready? An Opeth gig is typically quite hysterical and filled with pandemonia...quite the opposite to a prog/power crowd perhaps? Also, what about other extreme metal acts...

Just wanted to say that I was pleased to see you commend "Prophet of the Last Eclipse". I was shocked at just how good this album is. On a side note, it's not like you need all the Rhapsody albums, but what do you think of Symphony of Enchanted Lands? Regardless of the style, I definitely...
