It is only 2 days untill the Atlanta concert with Rhapsody and Manowar. Who is going?

Btw, is there anything I should know about the venue? I haven't been to a show held there before.

For those who have already seen them, what do you think my chances of getting them to sign something or get a picture?

I'll be there!!!

It'll be my first time at the Masquerade too, but I know where it is and have seen it. It's on the corner of this street across from a Kroger sign with parking right next to it.

I have been battlin this sinus thing all weekend....not sure if I am goin to go....probably be a last minute decision.....

But I sure want to go....

we'll see

I'll be there, hopefully. I haven't gotten my ticket yet, I guess I need to suck it up and pay the TM price-gouging fee so I don't drive all the way downtown and get stuck there without a ticket.

The best thing about the venue has got to be the floor. When there's enough energy in the room (read: tonight) the entire floor bounces 'cos it's on the second story. Can't stay still even if you want to. Unfortunately, the room doesn't sound that great and it takes quite a while for setup because all the equipment needs to be pulled up to the stage with a small outdoor elevator.

You should have a great chance to get some stuff signed, I am sure they will be hanging out. The Masq is really a cool place to see a show so I am sure you will have a ball, I don't think I will have the cash...just flew to see Testament at Jaxx and got back yesterday.

Probably won't be able to go to the show due to my work-schedule, although if I can slip out of work a leetle early.... We'll see. :)

The Masquerade is probably the only concert club in the country that wants to close down, but isn't being allowed to. (Most of the time the powers-that-be want to shut a club down, but Atlanta tends to be a bit....backward.)

It's a neet-looking place to see a show (on the inside, anyway) with three inside rooms, plus a 'music park' outdoor venue in the back. It was once an excelsior mill (and it was once called The Excelsior Mill as a venue), and since a lot of the old machinery and equipment is still there, there's this suspiciously sudden push to have it declared a historical site...hence the management's difficulty in selling the property to a developer.

The Manowar show will be upstairs in 'Heaven.' There's also a downstairs bar called 'Purgatory' to the left as you enter, and a dance-club and smaller live stage to the right (underneath 'Heaven') called 'Hell,' appropriately enough. Sometimes people go hang out in Purgatory before 'their' bands take the stage. You can usually move freely up and down the central stairs.

The upstairs bathrooms tend to be crowded and ill-kept (except for the headliners' backstage bathroom...usually :)), but there are also bathrooms downstairs in the back of 'Hell' that aren't as widely known. Depending on the show they may be accessible down the stairs via the exit from the back of 'Heaven' by the merch area.

If you get there early, you can park on that side street for free -- watch out for fire hydrants and posted no-parking zones!

Damn, seems like a lot of people might miss it! I wonder how big the crowd will be, because it is a Tuesday night *thankfully, I'm not working that day*.

Atlanta was my only chance to see either this year. I live in Mississippi so any other venue would cost a lot more to get to from here.

I will be there - and you can recognize me as proudly wearing an Overlorde shirt. Look me up. I may have some Overlorde samplers if I can get them done in time. *smacks forehead* I should have thought of doing that before today. :erk:

Hope you had a good time at the show. I saw them in Ft. Lauderdale. Rhapsody were amazing. I would call Manowar a bunch of homos, but I don't want to insult the gay community. Took pictures with all the the Rhapsody members and had all of my CDs signed, while the "queens of metal" had to be escorted by bodyguards the whole 50 foot walk from their bus to the club. Hopefully things were better in Atlanta and other cities

The concert IS Tuesday! What's conflicting is the time doors open. On the Masquerdade's calendar and on the actual tickets, it says doors open at 7 *if I remember right*

However, on the home page it says 8.

I sure as hell don't want to stand outside for an hour waiting to just have to wait more on the inside. I hope it means that the show is scheduled to start at 8 with doors opening at 7.

Oh, and a side note - I think attendance might be affected by the price of the tickets too. *Though I think it's reasonable figuring I'd never think I'd get to see Rhapsody here in US*

Look at the entire show calendar, and this tour is the most expensive date the Masq has scheduled between June and August.

However, lots of the bands on the list are local bands and such.

Aha, the King Diamond Syndrome makes a reappearance!

Does anyone know if we can bring cameras? I've heard different things on this so far.

yeah I'd like to know this myself. I know how the Masquerade can be (flaky) about cameras. I didn't even bother to bring mine into the Iced Earth show, then next thing I know flashes were going off all over the place. So I missed getting any good shots of the show, and had a great view of the stage.

I've also read reviews of other ManOwaR shows on this rather short tour... it seems they're quite anal about the cameras, but Rhapsody tends to take pics with fans after their show. I guess ManOwaR figures if they can't copyright and trademark the pics...

:bah:

I had my camera @ the BLS show and nobody gave me any flak....it is a small digital...

I would not take a video camera or anything of "size".

Still feelin pretty crappy....looks like I am gonna have to sit this one out...pretty pissed , too....really wanted to hear/see Rhapsody...they are gettin RAVE reviews from all the people that have seen the show!!!

Have fun guys

I think I am gonna be down @ the Masquerade next month for a band called Brand New Sin...check em out', maybe see ya there...if not....SEE YOU IN THE FALL!!!!!WWWOOOHHHOOOO

The chances are slim, because you pretty much have to just run into them or catch them! I attended the Winston-Salem show with Fatesfan, and we arrived at Ziggy's 5 hours before the show began! It was worth it though, because the Rhapsody guys signed my Dawn of Victory CD and took pictures with us! The Rhapsody guys are CLASS ACTS, but I can't say that much for Manowar, sorry! I'm not a Manowar fan, and probably never will be!
