Wacken '06 Day 2... (long post)

I was planning on going this year, but since the lineup did not impress me that much I decided to go to the MetalWay festival in Gernika, Basque Country. I am surprised that you said Finntroll were the best band of the weekend, in Gernika I thought they were one of the worst (the singer...

    MetalWay Festival 2006 (Gernika)

Man, in a long festival like this one it is impossible to watch every single band...I had to cut some out and The Gathering were definitely not on top of my priorities. In a couple of weeks there is a free mini-festival here, but I am not too excited about the line-up (Edguy as headliners...

    MetalWay Festival 2006 (Gernika)

Hello folks, Long time I have not posted on this forum. I have been living in Barcelona, Spain, for over two years now and I am starting to look for a house to buy as I intend to stay here. I still have fond memories of ProgPower (I attendend PP II, III and IV) and I would love to return, but...

    Stratovarius + Lacrimosa

That is strange! How come Lacrimosa, a band that sings in German, is headliner over Stratovarius??? I would have expected Stratovarius to be a lot more popular than Lacrimosa in Mexico. I will see Stratovarius later this year co-headlining with Hammerfall...ope both of them play older material...

Schaffer Talks About New IE album

I hope the music sounds like Something Wicked, because the last two albums are weak, especially The Glorious Burden. I don't have much hopes for it though as it seems like Jon has run out of ideas and just keeps recycling riffs over and over again, be it with IE or Demons & Wizards.

New Demons and Wizards scores 6/10 from Martin Popoff

I am a huge Blind Guardian fan and used to like Iced Earth up until Something Wicked, but I find Demons & Wizards to be rather weak. There are some songs that I love (on both albums - especially Fiddler on the Green) but overall I find the band to be a bit repetitive and simple, which means that...

    Tribuzy - Execution

I've heard it. Not bad at all. Only thing I don't like that much are the vocals, which are a bit too high pitched for my taste, but otherwise, a very good album indeed.

What concerts have you been to so far this year?

Year is starting to look a lot better in the last couple of days! Starts with a free mini festival with Primal Fear as headliner, then in October I have Royal Hunt, Epica + The Old Dead Tree, Shaaman + Brainstorm, Gamma Ray, and later on Helloween and Stratovarius + HammerFall. I'm sure there...

What concerts have you been to so far this year?

Thanks, edgeofthorns! I try to go to as many concerts as I can here in Barcelona. Unfortunately there isn't much going on this summer so I have to wait till later this year to see some more concerts. I might go to a couple of festivals, one in Sweden (Gates of Metal) with bands such as Children...

    Melodic Death/Thrash

I also enjoy the heavier sounding bands, I guess I was focusing more on the typical melodic death metal bands with lots of solos and melodies. Other heavier melodic death bands I like include: Amon Amarth Deathchain Amoral Dimmu Borgir Centinex Soul Demise Arch Enemy Carcass...

    Very sad......

News around the world are biased, but in US the news are truly designed to keep the average American in fear so that he/she won't question his/her government. I lived in US for 5 years (college) including during 9/11 as well as when US started the Iraq invasion, and I was amazed of what a...

    Anyone a fan of Falconer?

I like the first two albums, especially because of the singer. The new singer is just ordinary in my opinion. What made them stand out at the beginning was the voice of the original singer, but now they have fallen into the typical power metal category. I also saw them at BW&BK Fest but was not...

So how is Orphaned Land live?

I might catch them on their European tour with Paradise Lost when they come to Barcelona...too bad they are the opening band. I am not too much into Paradise Lost...used to love them back when they released Icon and Draconian Times...two masterpieces! I guess it will depend on how much they'll...
