Lets Talk About Random Shit Thread.

I've often heard that alot of people also smoke just out of boredom almost. For example, some people have this thing where they don't know what to do with their hands sometimes and it almost makes them more comfortable to have a cigarette in their hand which gives them an excuse of actually doing something rather than standing around. Also, some people are just used to having one at regular intervals of the day, like after lunch maybe, just because it's gotten to be part of their routine. I don't understand it myself, but this is what I've heard from quite a few people. If you just find something else to replace those moments with though I think it would help, even if it's something small and silly, like taking a moment to read a magazine, playing a game on your phone, etc. Just find something to replace that part of your day with.

I do that with snacking, I managed to stop most of it and dropped a bit of weight but at work I replaced snacks with coffee and find myself getting anxious at times. Have cut down to one per day but replaced the others with camomile tea.

A friend of mine would have to have one in his hand if he was entering a club, etc. It was a confidence thing for him.

This same friend, if reading a magazine and turned the page and saw a cigarette ad would instantly light up, almost subconsciously get triggered every time - just shows how effective tobacco advertising is.

both my parents smoke, fucking disgusting habit

hate it hate it hate it

It's cultural for you guys, the same with Asians.

Good to hear you are still alive though.

HEY NON-AMERICANS.

Serious question. Did any of you follow the U.S. Presidential election, or even give two fucks about it?

Hell no, and I live here. Then again, I also think that the so called "democracy" that exists in most countries is a fucking joke, so I don't get how much people care about voting in the first place.

I don't really care about it but I know people here who are anti-Romney basically due to all his religious beliefs.

Voting should be compulsory for it to be taken seriously anyway.

I heard in Colorado more people voted on legalising weed than they did for who should be president.

Donald Trump lol.

fuck yea

WEEED IS LEGAL IN 2 STATES

As well as gay marriage, and a law that says you have to wear a condom in pornograhic videos in California.

I didn't really follow the election, I laughed at the funny posts about it on reddit. I find it odd how many Americans are going around asking if we followed... Russlle Brand had the best answer to that:

Did you follow the last Canadian election? Neither did I.

i will be able to move into an apt the day after thanksgiving

Halo 4. Good shit. Campaign is one of the series' best, multiplayer is...polarising. As someone who's played since CE in 2002 and online since 2 in 2006 I like it /shrug

Brentowulf and I donging on weakass players in matchmaking. Best I've been doing on Halo since about 2007. GOTY for me but considering this is one of the 2 games have bought/will buy this year my opinion is irrelevant.

Now, I'm reading twenty states are trying to secede from the Union. Seriously?

including Texas
which, iirc, is the only state that can actually do so legally
if Texas actually secedes, i'm gonna see if i can move to USA, haven't left Texas yet just mostly cuz i'm too lazy to move

So if you happen to be Dutch. I just served a reception for your countries princess... like 2 hours into my shift doing prep I decided to ask "whats with all the dutch flags and licorice?"

So yeah that was a fun, here is what we served her.

MussKulls! The sauce was some Creole Dijon dressing we have, then I saw the chef toss in a shitload of garlic and a good cup or so of Gin. Gross.
Other platter is some potato thing with like a deviled egg in the middle. Also pretty terrible.

Open-face sandwiches. Prosciutto melon, crab, chicken salad, Brie tomato, and smoked salmon.

I had to be told about 10 times what these were called, and it was a waste of everyones time because I forgot again.
The translation is "little cake". and thats what they are. Also, wild chocolate crocombouche appears. (spelling)

Cheese platter, and I did not carve those melons... but my manager decided to tell our organizer that it was me, and he decided to get carried away and say I am the chef that does allll of the carvings. About 5 other people overhear this, so now I get to explain to 6 VIP, rich ass people, how I do it, how long it takes, how long I've been doing these things.... I've never done it, I had no idea... thankfully the organizer and I think 2 others were drunk so I was able to pull that one off... while having a heart attack...

Cheese were Gouda, Edam, and a Gouda with Cumin seeds which was so totally awesome.

To the left are some licorice candies, little tarts and cakes, and a fuckton of different gingerbread cookies. I was called away before I could finnish. We also served hot H'ors D'ouvres that were passed around.

All our staff was warned. There will be three armed CSIS gaurds around her at all times. You are not to go anywhere near her. If she wants a drink, or food, she will get her people to tell a manager.

I have no clue why she was even here :/

Anyway... that was fun. Bonus pic, different event, I made this bird our of a zuchini and snuck it into this display. Weee! :p.
