Cheers and Jeers

I

Jeers:
-It was FREEZING inside the venue for most of the weekend. At times it really detracted from the enjoyment of the fest.
-That drunk dude that was going out of his way to be annoying during the Sanctuary set. It went beyond moshing, he was just being confrontational with everyone...

That is funny seeing that about the venue being cold. Last year, it got so friggan hot in that place, especially on Saturday.

I was standing near the mosh pit on Friday evening. I don't mind seeing a little bit of moshing, after all it does come with the territory at times, but damn, that was really starting to get stupid there during the Sanctuary set. Was glad to see security finally shut it down. Did not surprise me to see that one drunk dude (who was being pretty obnoxious ALL weekend) was the main instigator of that whole shinanagin.

Jeers:

The chick in the front row at the Vanden Plas acoustic show who kept raising her arm for no reason at all, making it tough for me to get photos.

That was pretty annoying. Hell, she was holding up a copy of the album, blocking my view of Andy, during the entire "Seraphim Clockworks" song. Was annoying as I wanted to get a couple of shots with the camera as well.

@ TribunalRecords...

.......

My priority is the stage while trying to offer the most I can as well. I'm sure you have been able to offer the same type of "experience" though.

....

Let's not forget Glenn's attention to detail prior to Forbidden's set to attend to the mess in the floor...(wet floor, plastic cups) that surely could have resulted in a busted head during the ALLOWED mosh pit.

:bah:

More cheers:
- The Residence Inn. Seriously awesome! The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our room was great - there was a kitchenette with a full fridge, a microwave, silverware, etc. Free Internet and breakfast. It was heaven!
- Rain from WHW for attempting and failing to give me a good handgrab during their set (alas, I am height-impaired), and then giving me a nice firm handshake at the signing session table and personalizing my VOL booklet. Yaaaay! :D
- Whoever reassured me about my Powerglove shirt on Thursday.

And one more jeer:
- It was 40 degrees when I got home. :( Wish I could send this cold air to the AZ folk!

Mine is pretty short. Will list my single Jeer first.

Jeer
Having to miss Thursday and Friday because of work.

Cheers
Glenn - Since I didn't get in until Saturday morning, when I got to Center Stage, the ticket office wasn't open, so I couldn't get my gold badge. Glenn told the security guard I talked to to let me in for the Vanden Plas acoustic show and then get my badge afterwards. Thanks a lot Glenn! That show was awesome.

Jen - For handling twitter and other social media. When I got off work at midnight Friday night, I immediately got on the road to drive to Atlanta. I purposely stopped at the Alabama Welcome Center so I could check my phone for twitter to see if you had posted the lineup for next year yet. When I saw Serenity and Pretty Maids, I let out a yell I am sure anyone at the rest area heard.

Therion - Having never seen them live (their previous PPUSA performance was the year before I heard about the festival) I really enjoyed their show. It was incredible. Definitely made the money for gold badge, hotel, etc. worth it to see. One of the best performances I have ever seen (up there with After Forever a few years ago).

Vanden Plas - I missed them a few years ago and then Thursday as well, but getting to see the acoustic show was great. They were extremely good and I really enjoyed it.

Next year, with Serenity, Pretty Maids, Epica and Amaranthe, I will definitely be there for both Friday and Saturday. Have already told my backup he has to work it for me. Depending on Thursday's bands, maybe then too.

Sort of like breaking line to punch your badges just because you are working for a vendor right?

If you respect me, then you will remain quiet from here on out on the subject. If you do not, then you & Matt can discuss things on other forums.

I immediately apologized for that, I didn't realize that the line was for that, I thought it was for people picking up badges. This is why I continued to use the broken punch to make it work rather than ask for the good one. It had absolutely nothing to do with my working as a vendor. I'd like to think you know me a little better than that. I suppose not. I'm done now.

Brent

More cheers:
- Meeting Bamafan and Milton. It's always a pleasure to meet more forum members! Though I think Milton was just being polite.

Wow, so that's what people think of me around here? I wasn't just being nice, I AM nice! :p It was great meeting you and Met-Al as well! :D

+1 I wanted to knock that CD out of her hand so bad. It took a lot of will power to prevent me from doing so.

I see your +1 and raise you 100... It's probably the same chic that did the same f'n thing at the acoustic show - I was not a fan either.... :bah:

Cheers: All the great friends and familiar faces.

Jeers: Some Eumeria stickers were supposed to be delivered to the Artmore so
that I could put them in the bags that get handed out at the doors. Well the
package never arrived! I keep checking with the management at the hotel to see if they show up, hoping to use them there next year.

i see your Jeer - while i wasn't up close during the set, i could see from my vantage point...and damned if she didn't snake into my conversation doing the same thing, face-to-face with the VP guys. to their credit, they were not amused by her either

and i :oops::oops::oops::oops: at the leg-signing cheer :) it was totally unplanned but when you're surrounded by adorable Italians, what can ya do? :) x

I thought the sound was absolutely perfect for most of the fest (Thursday not so much until a couple songs into VP's set). I had regular foam plugs and just had them barely wedged in my ear just to attenuate the volume where I was closer to a speaker.

The lineup was amazing. I wish I had infinite energy and could have watched every single song, but I didn't, so I paced myself and limited my drinking (somewhat :D) My primary jeer is somewhat related to this... allergies were killing me the whole weekend, which definitely reduced my energy levels.

The band members, as usual, were wonderfully friendly and it was great seeing them just hanging out like regular folk while still allowing us to shower our praise on them.

More cheers: thanks to everyone for putting up with me being a lunatic, especially during Therion's set (if you thought I was wild then, you should have seen me with full energy and a setlist that brought even more out of me) at their NYC show when they toured!

It was great to see the venue more than 50% full for the first bands of the night. Really says something about the promoter, the bands, and the attendees when that happens so early. On a related note, I see next year being a repeat of this year as far as lineup is concerned. Kudos to Glenn!

So many friends, old and new, great hanging out with all of you. I hope to see each and every one next year!

A final jeer: Crappy sidewalk on the way to the Artmore. At least I didn't get blasted so I could navigate the mess. Why did they have to schedule this for the three highest-traffic days that sidewalk will get in a year?!
