ProgPower USA XV Official Roster and videos

Yes, POS will headline Weds. show.

I really hope you'll have more tact if their special set doesn't come to your liking, Chris. We're working hard on picking something special for everyone. I'd appreciate the support more than criticism as far as that goes. I can tell you that it'll be truly awesome! :)

Great job on the POS score Milton! I appreciate all that you and the Intromental team do!

I just have one thing to say: ARE WE THERE YET???? :headbang: :worship:

Ok, I lied. I also want to say how happy I am to see so many positive responses to the lineup so far. As for the trolls, I guess there's (at least) one in every crowd...

Calm down ladies. I've seen you all voice your opinion on here many times, no need to get bent over it. And don't tell me what my words translate as. Here, I'll fix it for you: I hope they cancel so Glenn can get someone better for the fest whether I like them or not. I don't wish any stress or ill will on Glenn. I've been 10 times, been a sponsor once, and seen many bands I would've never seen otherwise. If anything I'm eternally grateful to Glenn. So if I don't like the headliners that's my right not to, I come to the fest anyways, and will again next year. I remember standing on the floor with plenty of room around me during Strato's set, and usually that is not the case with a headliner. That's how I remember it so I don't think they're headliner material, and the empty space around me must've agreed. Just my opinion...

Well you will see a very well deserved headliner performance next year, that's for damn sure!!!

I agree. This I'm looking forward to. However I watched that building empty out after PoS took over the headliner for BG at PPIII so I hope it goes well. There is such a thing as a "power snob" too. :saint:

I think I can recall a interview with Glenn, where he was asked about what band he would like to finish the last ProgPower USA. I think the answer was Jon Oliva's Pain, or atleast something Oliva-related. If I remember correctly, you can hear it in Milton's audio interview with Glenn last autumn.

Edit: He said it was Jon Oliva playing a piano version of "When the Crowds are Gone".

Yep, my first thought when JOP/Streets was announced was WOOOOOOHOOOOO! My second thought was, “Oh, Shit. SHIT!” My ideal scenario would be for the fest to continue for another 15 years, but with Jon Oliva booked as the Saturday headliner every year. Just in case.

I'm always happy to see a special exclusive show, but I have to admit I don't really understand this crowd's obsession with Savatage. I'm sure it'll be great, but I think I would enjoy a straight JOP set more.

1. Savatage is a legendary band in this scene.
2. We've seen regular JOP sets. This is something no one has ever seen.

1. POS isn't headlining this year.
2. When they did, they had to follow Blind FREAKING Guardian, the one band nearly everyone came to see.

I didn't say they were headlining. They're playing the Wednesday show. I hope it goes well because their is a lot of dislike for PoS on this board. Seeing that building empty out is proof and that was 11 years ago when they were at their peak.

Fair point, but comparing headlining a Wednesday night gig to following Blind Guardian on the main stage is like comparing apples to FOLLOWING BLIND GUARDIAN ON THE MAIN STAGE.

Two things here. 1. Since it is a Wednesday show, I'm pretty sure it will be in the loft as it will be more intimate. 2. You cannot base things completely off the forum boards. It's a small sampling of the actual audience that attends. Hell, a lot of people that post here never even go to the fest.

while I don't care for Stratovarious personally, there are about 800 or more people who are paying money to go to this who would be crushed if they cancel

Oh yeah, you can count me as one that would be crushed if Stratovarious was to cancel! Hell, I even put in a fucking sponsorship bid to get Stratovarious to return, so I definitely jumping in my seat when I saw that announcement!

But yeah, go figure that there is going to be at least one jackass that is going to bitch and moan about part of the lineup and such. As far as I am concerned, the whiners can go and fuck off. Fine, if they don't like Strato, nobody's making them stay and watch, but hoping the band would be cancelled so that a band "they" like would be there instead? That is just being selfish and being a douche in my opinion. I am certain that there were people that were stoked when Dream Evil cancelled and got Forbidden instead in 2011. I would have much rather seen Dream Evil myself as I did not care for Forbidden at all.

There have been bands in the lineup that I don't care for. Case in point, I don't particularly care for Overkill myself, but I know there are plenty of people that do. I am not sitting here thinking, "Damn, I hope Overkill is cancelled so I can see a band I like". I'll still and watch the set, as there have been other bands in the past that I did not care for but ended up being blown away with the performance (For example, just this past one, I did not really care for Soilwork, but damn, that set was just SICK!!).

I for one am excited to see Statovarius, as I've never seen them before.

I'm also super stoked to see Disperse. Living Mirrors still gets regular play on my iPod. I can't wait to hear that shit live! Their guitarist is a fucking monster!

Some Strato speculation: With Timo T out of the picture they start on time and don't bail on signing sessions. I think this will be a very different Stratovarius experience than last time.

thank you for bringing up disperse...the music on their clip really interested me...I have to probably hit I tunes and get familiar with them more because from what I hear its as close to right up my alley for what I write as any band tha has played here
