Cover Art Competition

I dunno. In general, for appreciation's sake, I like hand art better. But when it comes to album covers, the realism and the versatility (for t-shirt, color changes, modifications, etc) of graphic art has a real advantage. Would RTC have looked as good if it was hand drawn?
But I have to say.....my fav album cover ever is Gateways To Annihilation, so I'm open for something to be hand drawn.

I think digital art is not really art...even if I do it myself. Still I draw, sketch, paint....I try to incorporate those into my design so it's not so soulless. The one above can be acheived pretty fast, but if he/she is new to it, then it's fine.

I sort of agree, however digital art seems to appeal to a wider commercial
market in spite of its so-called superficiality. I don't mean to attack it
or anyone who uses it in good taste, but it's gotten to the point where
things like photoshop are so sophisticated that they can not only capture and create images flawlessly but they can also immitate naturally flawed art too!

This makes it obviously very hard to compete with
