May as well get this started, since we are into the second week of December.

I realize for me personally, there are as many CDs that I want but haven't heard / gotten yet, as ones I have.

From what I own or legally downloaded, here is my top 10 (in no order):

  • HELLOWEEN - 7 SINNERS
  • GAMMA RAY - TO THE METAL!
  • BLIND GUARDIAN - AT THE EDGE OF TIME
  • GRAVE DIGGER - THE CLANS WILL RISE AGAIN
  • ICARUS WITCH - DRAW DOWN THE MOON
  • MANILLA ROAD - AFTER MIDNIGHT - Live
  • IRON MAIDEN - THE FINAL FRONTIER
  • DREAM EVIL - IN THE NIGHT
  • THE SWORD - WARP RIDERS
  • AGALLOCH - MARROW OF THE SPIRIT

This could change once I finally get some additional 2010 releases on my want list, such as: Cathedral, Slough Feg, Dawnbringer, Atlantean Kodex, Ghost, Orphaned Land, Hour of 13, Rhapsody of Fire, etc.

Beat me to it. I have already started getting my list ready. Almost done!

Well pointed. Out of these additional ones you mentioned, Orphaned Land and Rhapsody of Fire are definitely on my top 10!

Cool! Yeah, I have not been good at keeping up on everything I have wanted to check out. Been a crazy year for me.

For the past couple of years, I have gotten releases in the subsequent year. Better late than never!

1. Ihsahn - After
2. Alcest - Ecailles de Lune
3. Orphaned Land - The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR
4. Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit
5. Blind Guardian - At the Edge of Time
6. Vanden Plas - The Seraphic Clockwork
7. Shining - Blackjazz
8. Tarot - Gravity of Light
9. ReVamp - ReVamp
10. Manticora - Safe

This was such a great year for music IMO. There's a lot of releases (Impaled Nazarene, God Dethroned, Labyrinth, Angra, Maiden, Avantasia, Star One, Nevermore, Enslaved) that would have been Top 10 material in any other year.

the HIGH SPIRITS was a 2009 release actually. You bought it this year though.

I am chronically behind, but of the few 2010 releases I do have, I expect the following to place highly:
Spiritual Beggars - Return to Zero (probably #1)
Blind Guardian - At the Edge of Time
Place of Skulls - As a Dog Returns
Pain of Salvation - Road Salt
Overkill - Ironbound
Flotsam & Jetsam - The Cold

Okay here is my list this year in no particular order:

Star One - Victims of the Modern Age
Myrath - Desert Call
Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape
Vaden Plas - Seraphic Clockwork
Sahg - Sahg III
Volbeat - Beyond Hell/Above Heaven
Kingcrow - Phlegethan
Tarot - Gravity of Light
Spiritual Beggars - Return to Zero
Revamp - Revamp

Accept-Blood of the Nations
Pretty Maids-Pandemonium
Helloween-7 Sinners
Ben Folds/Nick Hornby-Lonely Avenue
Grand Magus-Hammer of the North
Raven-Walk Through Fire
Myrath-Desert Call
Star One-Victims of the Modern Age
Krokus-Hoodoo
We Are The Fallen-Tear The World Down

2. Alcest - Ecailles de Lune

Unless the new Agalloch album blows me away, I think Alcest will be my number 2 as well (right under the latest Kingcrow album). For some reason, I just can't stop playing Ecailles de Lune. What an incredible album!

Hopefully my Agalloch album comes in this week so I can finalize my list for the year.

ACCEPT - Blood of the Nations
KIUAS - Lustdriven
SEVENTH WONDER - The Great Escape
MINDWARP CHAMBER - Supernova
MYRATH - Desert Call
FIREWIND - Days of Defiance
HEATHEN - The Evolution of Chaos
SEVEN KINGDOMS - Seven Kingdoms
CREATIONS END - A New Beginning
ALLEN/LANDE - The Showdown

Don't have HELLOWEEN's 7 Sinners yet, but it might bump The Showdown off the end of my list given what I've heard from it so far.

Top 10:
Alcest - Ecailles De Lune
Nachtmystium - Addicts: Black Meddle Part 2
Agalloch - Marrow Of The Spirit
Periphery - Periphery
Cancer Bats - Bears, Mayors, Scraps and Bones
Ke$ha - Animal
Blackbreath - Heavy Breathing
Red Sparowes - The Fear Is Excruciating, But Therein Lies The Answer
Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones
Mike Patton - Mondo Cane

But other excellent albums this year:

Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini
Orphaned Land - The Never-Ending Way Of ORwarriOR
Broken Bells - Broken Bells
Dommin - Love Is Gone
Ghost - Opus Eponymous
The Sword - Warp Riders
Deftones - Diamond Eyes
Masterplan - Time To Be King
Darkthrone - Circle The Wagons
Intronaut - Valley Of Smoke

edit: - had to make some changes.

Nachtmystium - Addicts: Black Meddle Part 2

How is this????
Completely forgot this even came out, as well as the SIGH.
The last SIGH was great.

Oh wait!!! It came out on THE END, which means that maybe 10 people knew it even came out.

As for Ke$ha, I will take her over that Lady Gaga bullsh*t anyday.
Also, I developed a bit of a crush on her after that last awards show.

You won't like it if you expect a metal album. It's loaded with indie rock and industrial/electronic elements but I love it. It's like a slightly heavy Amesoeurs.

Alot of people have been describing it as "hipster black metal" which I suppose is correct. Again, I love it.
