ProgPower USA XVIII Days 1 & 2: First Band Announced!

I heard about three notes of the opening piano riff to Bleed during the announcement and was stunned they were even approached by you! Can't wait to see those guys!

~Brian~

Oh wow you should have seen them at PPUSA two, blew the roof off the place!!!!I was lucky enough to witness it from the stage and all over really, great show, great guys!

Excellent news. Have we seen a headliner yet? I'm really not sure as the bands that have been announced I think theoretically could be in many cases...

I'm hoping for another "Wild Card" band in the form of folk, extreme, or some crossover band.

I...am beside myself with glee. And with my change in jobs soon I should be able to do all 4 days! I gotta make this happen.

So Glenn announces Haken over on PM to make fun of Stevie Wonder, but we don't even get an official announcement here? What's up with that? :)

Mardoch, you on the payroll now? ;)

Back-to-back years? Is there ever "too much of a good thing"? In Haken's case, I think not... :D

I looked at all the past lineups and I think this is only the fifth time this has happened (counting lineups, not years, thus excluding Zero Hour in 2001 and 2002), and also the first time since 2007 (Freak Kitchen).

Way back when PPUSA was not as prestigious as it is now, back-to-back appearances probably would not be uncommon. Now, though, there has to be something very special. Probably more than just Visions.

Almost certainly something to do with Portnoy. In addition to being pals with the whole crew, Haken even covered The Mirror with Portnoy appearing on drums on one of their more recent tours.

So there is 3 bands left right? I hope we see something similar to Spock's Beard, in terms of a prog rock band being on the line-up. I'll throw out some names: IQ, Gazpacho, Anekdoten, Pineapple Thief, Bent Knee, iamthemorning.

Man, that'd be so cool. iamthemorning especially is something that would be totally out of left field and kill it.

I think guys like Agent Fresco, 3, or Vennart would actually be perfect openers on Haken's night since they likely share a lot of the same younger prog audience.

Agent Fresco would steal the show.
