Symphony X, Epica, Into Eternity Teaming up for N. American Tour

You have to wonder when & if they will step up to the the direct support slot though. How many tours have they "opened" for in the past 3 years?
Perhaps when they stop sucking ass live? I've seen 6 times live (most recently, opening for Katatonia), they've sucked each and every time. However, I'm sure both them and their loyal fans have an excuse for each of those performances; illness, band instability, band exposed to biological weapons, etc. Great on disc, awful live.

Here's something to ponder... has their constant touring actually diminished their ability to draw in a headline slot? Seriously, who hasn't seen them 3 or 4 times? How many people are going to go out specifically to see 90 minutes of Into Eternity?

I've seen them twice in the past year. With Destruction, they were absolutely horrible. With Dark Tranquillity, they were nothing more than average. They're a decent band, and I respect them for working so hard to get where they are, but I'd really like to see some different bands.

Either way, I'll be there for SX alone. Epica just makes the deal even better.

I think you saw two different sets than the ones I saw. Into Eternity has been excellent live every time I've seen them.

Into Eternity at progpower dissappointed me, but i know they just lost a few guys so i understood. With the new drummer and Stu I really want to see them live now. Symphony X wasn't that great when I saw them a couple months ago, not as good as every other time I have seen them. Epica just doesn't do much for me. Give me After Forever any day over Epica(their music just bores me, it is good, but boring). My friend who is just as critical on live bands as I am said Into Eternity kicked ass the last time he saw them with Dream Theater and that they were nails on perfect like on cd.

In all honesty, what will IE gain from being on this tour?
As Zod said, who has not seen them already?

I would say 75% or more of the attendees at these shows are already familiar with them, and have seen them.

The time would be better spent penning a new album methinks.

Let's be honest, even if you are a fan of IE, I am sure the first thing you said to yourself is, "Again???"

May 03 - West Springfield, VA @ Jaxx
Glad this one is coming near us :headbang:, but then again, I would have been surprised if this tour did not come to Jaxx.

I saw them on them on the Dark Tranquility tour as well and thought they sounded great, but maybe they had an off night at the show you saw. I can definitely say that the night I saw them on tour with Edguy, they sounded so much better than Edguy did. Part of that may have had to do with the fact that Edguy had their gear lost for the previous night of the tour, which made our show their first night playing on the tour and thus they were probably still working out some issues with the sound and gear. (But somehow I doubt misplacing some gear would have affected Toby's vocals as badly as what I was hearing - he was hitting some real sour notes that night and not holding out the notes in a lot of places he should have been.)

IE is just one of those bands I never get tired of seeing and, honestly, in the 10 or 15 times I've seen them beginning with PPV, I can't say I've ever seen them play a bad show. :headbang:

You sir are in the minority on this one.

IE is fantastic live. Seen them slay 3 times this year alone, can't wait for this show!

Heres to hoping and praying for a new SX setlist, but I know I won't get it.

Agreed ~ I finally watched their set when they stopped at Jaxx with Edguy and I thought they were GREAT... I need to get some of their CDs!!!!

Not an Epica fan tho - they just bore me to PIECES... I was into them at PP 7 til the growlies started, then I totally lost interest... (Good to see a fellow redheaded female kickin' ass tho!!!)

Maybe when they stop having a revolving-door lineup. They've had so many lineup changes that I would not be surprised if Light of Doom from "Next Great American Band" is the new Into Eternity lineup when this tour kicks off.
