Bought the new Richie Kotzen disc "24 Hours". Why he is not more popular is a shame as his talents seem to be quite endless. It may not be metal, but the man can write, play, and sing better than most artists can do just one of the three.

He went completely pickless a couple years ago; it's not slowed him down at all. I really need to practice more.

Yes this will be new to me....late to the party as usual. Last one I heard is Low, and a couple of tracks off the latest album in a sampler.

@Jind, really digging Richie Kotzen lately but that is one of the worst album covers I know :D

Seems to be a self released disc so you get what you get (had to order directly off his site). Peace sign (his last disc) appeared to be pretty much in the same quality vein as far as artwork goes. Despite the obvious cover art weakness, the music is great, received it today in the mail.

I have a problem with track #2 on the album titled "Help Me", there is what someone "in the know" on his forums claims to be intentional use of a bass synth in the chorus, but to my ears it is a distracting low frequency buzzing, almost like a noise generator used to prevent piracy on promo tracks. It's a great song that is in my opinion wrecked by a distracting noise. If it is indeed intentional, it's a shame as I just want to skip over the song every listen.

As for his music in general - I have every disc he has released as a solo artist, including the "Wilson Hawk" record (come to think about it - probably even a worse cover :) ); his tribute to Soul/R&B - all of them are great in their own way and each have probably had more plays that most discs in my library. His music tends to reflect a place he's at in life - very auto-biographical it appears. Sometimes he's not happy "Into the Black" other times he seems quite satisfied "Peace Sign", but his quality as both a musician and songwriter always shine through.

If you haven't heard of these guys, you're missing out...

:puke:

No offense, if you like them then that's cool, but to me they sound pretty sub-par and identical to the other hundreds of mediocre "djent" or "core" bands out there now. Meh, just doesn't do anything for me. Different strokes I guess...
