Friday or Saturday? Which day are you more excited for?

I am most excited about:

  • Saturday

I guess I'm equally excited about both days ... however, I've noticed that this year there's a LOT of bands (5) I haven't seen live before:
Riverside (could be interesting)
Elvenking (I sure hope they are better live than on their horrible albums)
Pathosray (I can't wait to see them live - definitely what I'm most excited about!!!)
Serenity (I love their album, looking forward to their show)
Rob Rock (could be interesting)

Usually there's only 1 or 2 bands I haven't seen live, so I attend more for hanging out than to see the bands, but this year is definitely interesting musicwise as well. Awesome line-up!!!

Hmm, I voted Saturday because eventhough I seriously adore Amorphis, Andromeda, and Iron Savior, I've been wanting to see Spheric Universe Experience for well over a year if not more! *still can't believe it, but isn't surprised*

Saturday for me. I'm gonna have to double up my workouts to survive JOP AND Iced Earth!! I've seen Oliva many times and am pretty well done when he is!! I've seen IE twice, but the time with Barlow - well, I'm not sure I have recovered yet!!

So, after the Showcase, Friday night and three bands on Saturday, THEN try to survive my two favorite metal shows - All I can say is good thing Glenn is in the medical profession!! I'm gonna wear one of those little orange pennants that sticks up about 6 feet. When that goes down, call the parametics!!

Peace,
Chris :headbang:

If ICED EARTH was Friday night, it wouldn't even be a contest. That being said, IE has evened the odds for me. Although overall, I think Friday night is the better night. It's extremely hard to vote against IE.

Neither at this point ...

As of right now I only own a few Iced Earth CDs and some Savatage. I guess that means I could say Saturday, but I'm not intensely excited for either band at this point the way I have been for bands in past fest line-ups.

I'm not saying that this year's line-up is bad, or that I won't enjoy myself. There's always at least a few bands every year that get put on the bill that I know nothing about ... and usually I end up loving at least one of them. But I have to say that at this point, I'm really hoping for the Showcase to bring at least two bands that I'm a little more familiar with so I don't have to go totally broke trying to learn about/familiarize myself with/collect catalogs of all these bands.

I've got Nick (DemonOfTheWoods) as a great in-house resource, so I'll at least be able to get a taste for most of the other bands. From what I've heard so far, I'm thinking the bands I'm most likely to latch onto/enjoy are Iron Savior, Elvenking, Amorphis, Pathosray, and Serenity. The other's I'll check out, but nothing has struck me - so far - about the other bands as anything I will be adamant about seeing. I'm not opposed to that changing and I hope it will. But I always like to try to have purchased for myself at lease one CD of each band on the roster before I get to ProgPower.

It's just feels like this ProgPower is going to be a lot more work for me financially than any other ProgPower. (And that's a little overwhelming, especially in a year where one of my main goals is to get out of debt.) I guess that's part of what's making it hard for me to get excited the way I have in years past.

Riverside was the band I wanted to see most. However, once the announcement was made, a Barlow fronted Iced Earth became the band I wanted to see most. Add Amorphis into this equation and my head hurts.

I choose... not to vote.

I kind of agree with the overall sentiment of this board...but as to not be an obstainer (that sounds painful) I'll side with Elvenking and Iron Saviour and go with Friday. My apologies to the Serenity/Rob Rock combination.

I will probably love both days but mostly Saturday most likely because I know every Iced Earth song XD
