Showcase Replacement?

I didn't even think about Cynic but they would be perfect. They would perfectly fill in the prog with the loss of VP. I saw them with Dragonforce and they need an opportunity to play a full set. I think they would steal the whole weekend for me if they played.

I would LOVE this.

[Galactic Cowboys] are playing 3 shows in Tx. Why not add a 4th in ATL!

Or this.... :)

Please, no more prog. Too much already.

Umm, we're replacing a prog band, here. It only makes sense to replace them with someone who is at least somewhat prog themselves....

Last I heard, Mike Howe was living in The South as well. Though he has been in hiding for 15 plus years, it would be incredible if he could "pop in" for "Badlands" or something. I don't even know if Kurdt knows where he is though. I think a final encore for Metal Church would be cool. It may not sit well for the prog-oriented part of the crowd, but it is an interesting thought.

That'd definitely be an awesome outro for em'! :headbang:

I'd vote for Vicious Rumors but I don't know what they sound like these days, Bear probably knows. As for Saxon, definitely but then you've probably got visa issues again...

Just noticed Saxon is playing the Rock Gone Wild festival in Iowa next month so I imagine they are all set, plus didn't they play a New York show recently?

The first time I had ever heard of the GC they were on tour with Dream Theater. Shortly after that they announced they were breaking up, so it always bummed me out never having seen them. In the early DT dvd I remember a clip of Ben from GC, and he seemed like a fun-lovin' guy.

If I were a betting man I would bet that Shane gets ...................... or either ............. ... Just my two cents worth.

I don't envy Shane. There aren't a lot of American bands out there who fit the confines of the festival and are of headliner status. While I know Glenn has called Nevermore Neveragain, Shane hasn't. In addition, business is business, these are unusual circumstances, bad financial times, and Nevermore will put asses in the seats. In the months to come, when we learn the details about how current events unfolded, I'll be surprised to learn that Nevermore and Symphony X weren't phone calls one and two.

Those are NOT prog bands. They are prog metal bands. Big difference.
