How about it?
Mine is: Red Sand - "Music For Sharks"
After 2 great albums (& 1 mediocre) they put out this?! :puke:

I was a bit turned off by the Transatlantic lyrics in The Whirlwind. I think there were more subtle in their previous releases. And also, there are too many "Neal Morse sections" in this album...I probably enjoy the 2nd disc more than the 1st...

I liked the direction that Porcupine Tree did with The Incident but I just the concept didn't work well on the title song. I don't know...it just didn't hit me like Deadwing or In Absentia...even FOABP...Don't get me wrong, I know I listed it in my top 15 but that's because it also features some amazing moments like I Drive the Hearse, Circle of Manias...

And finally, Trans Siberian Orchestra's Nightcastle. I think it has too much filler (the best material could have easily fitted into one cd) and the production was lacking. You can barely hear the drums (they sound too thin). And imo, it lacks the dynamic and depth of their previous albums...

100% agreed, well said.

These three were disapointments that will be in the buy back bin...

Pocupine Tree - The Incident
Isis - Wavering Radiant
The Mars Volta - Ochedron

The buy back bin liquid tension? That's pretty harsh. I thought Wavering Radiant was a great album (though it wasn't better than Oceanic or panopticon I.M.O.) I saw them live back in June, Excellent show, but Utah crowds are lifeless... I think Octahedron is TMV's best album yet. I Have to agree with Mullmuzzler on The Incident. I was in the Bay Area visiting family and saw PT live in San Francisco three days after the album came out. I had ordered the cd online and had it shipped to my house so I hadn't heard it yet. They played it in it's entirety during the show and I thought it was excellent. I consider it the best concert I have been to (or a close tie with Tool when I saw them in '02.) All my friends who had heard the cd though kept telling me it was just an "ok" album. I thought they were crazy, but when I got home and listened to it several times, I came to the same conclusion...

Why would I listen to a disc from a band when I have 3 that are better?

I maybe a little harsh in my choices and these discs are better then 100s of other titles that came out this year but they were disappointments due to the past catalog of these bands and to be honest won't get any listening time so why keep them...

Fair enough Liquid...It's just I'm obsessive with my cds and refuse to sell any of them. Well, I did sell Mastodon's Blood Mountain and Opeth's Ghost Reveries. I had bought the single disc versions of each, but then purchased the cd/dvd versions.

Another disappointment for me this year wasn't a release, but the announcement that nine inch nails would no longer tour. I've had many opportunities to see them over the past 10 years of listening to them, but kept telling myself: "I'll see them next time". Now there won't be a next time. I'll remain hopeful though...

Agents of Mercy-Mr. Stolt is still lost
Transatlantic-Whirlwind-keep the line moving and drink your Koolaide
Steve Wilson- where's the clip that was running prior to its release?

Well, unfortunately this one's easy for me.
Believe's 'This Bread Is Mine' was a huge let down. I tried and tried to like it, but to no avail. 'Yesterday Is A Friend' was such a beautiful album to these ears, and I had real high hopes for the new one, but everything starting with the new vocalist was a complete let down.
Oh well, can't win 'em all. It's been a good year otherwise.

The Incident? Wtf? That album is... amazing.

Hmmm... I don't know if it came out this year... might've been last year, but I'm writing it anyway. Frost - Experiments...
From one of my favourite albums of all time, to... this? :( It hurts inside.

PoS - Linoleum. I waited, and waited... and wow...

It was painful for me to type it because the GH guys are my buds. I hope they get back on track with their next one. Not sure what went wrong with Syzygy. They made two killer discs and for some reason thought having Mark Boals sing Christian themed lyrics was a good idea. They were wrong.

I actuallly liked the music on the Syzygy release. I agree with you about the lyrics. I respect their beliefs and I believe in God too. What I don't understand is why they seem to think they need to preach in their music. It ruins it for me as well. I don't think God will get mad if they don't give us listeners a sermon in every song. Be creative and give us a break. Hope I didn't make anyone mad. Peace :)

Also the they I am referring is not just Syzygy. It goes to all the bands who think by having Christian lyrics it spreads the message. In my experience is accomplishes the exact opposite.
