The oddest of the odd ball slot suggestions

One issue I have with most horror rock/metal, is they are merely songs about horror movie/characters, or about a Lovecraft story. They rarely evoke the dread, terror that I'm after.

The Vision Bleak is pretty good though.

Notre Dame is good, but are pretty much what I just said above.

Well then, how about Lizzy Borden?! Yeah, they're kinda gimmicky, but their still a great band, w/ a great singer!
And their last album KICKED ASS!!! Any takers?? Oh & I whole heartedly second the Annihilator suggestion!!!
Jeff Waters still kicks ass!!! :)

I don't know if this qualifies as HOrror Metal but I love the band the Vision Bleak. Check out Wolf Moon & Night of the Living Dead

I must not have been paying attention to this thread, because I was just going to post something about VB. Metal-reviews has a pretty nice write up about their new one and I went to their myspace page to check 'em out and really liked what I heard.

Good stuff...

Wowsers! (Although your post is NOT inane and DID contribute.)

I reallly like Vision Bleak, especially The Deathship Has a New Captain ...didn't know they had a new one out. :kickass:

In my opinion, DSO really shot to the top as an oddball selection, but the oddest would be one of the following two:

I think the oddball should bring this festival into the here and now... For fear of becoming an old person's festival... Fair To Midland, Rishloo or maybe even Coheed and Cambria...

Exactly what I'm thinking. There's plenty of bands out there that would be awesome additions that wouldn't totally fit in. Bands like Fair to Midland and The Dear Hunter would appeal to the crowd, I think.

I'm a big time Coheed fan but please no. Their fanbase is usually obnoxious and the fest would end up being filled with a lot of hardcore Coheed fans at the fest, who I don't really think would be into the other acts. On top of that, they're too big for the fest anyways. The only exception might be them for a possible showcase, but I think there are many more bands that are well suited for this fest than them.

Not even...their show at the Tabernacle is almost sold out and that's twice the size as Center Stage.

5 years ago maybe, but today, no chance in hell.

Fuck I love that band.

I figured that. They'll probably catapult even further once the new one comes out. They're just too big a band. Plus, usually these oddball bands at progpower are not the headliners.

I would like to see someone like Noisecult or Piranah (just picked up on Relapse Records) get a shot someday. Not exactly prog or power but definitely metal. Maybe at least the showcase or mid-week mayhem.
