You know, I never see any asian metal bands on this forum

Even though you don't like them, they still deserve to be mentioned amongst Asian metal bands. Yeah, I know there's a whole thread dedicated to them, but it was obviously overlooked by the OP. Watch out, I'm about to bring up another band you can't stand. Get ready!

Versailles is alright, them i could get into, but for the life of me i just can't get into X-Japan, for whatever reason they just don't do a thing for me, sorry Tammy

Let's see... Oh yeah, a few days ago I posted a thread about Melechesh. They come from... Hmmm, yeah... Israel/Palestine (though the band is now based out of the Netherlands). Nevertheless, they started the band while still living in the Middle East.

And yeah. The Middle East is in Asia.

I have to disagree, the thread title clearly states " asian metal bands ", not "asian metal bands who live across a vast body of water". :D

Oh I agree with you there in terms of the title of the thread, but judging by what people are posting it seems to be foreign Asian bands.

Man.. I remember when I was the only one I knew who knew what X Japan was.. lol

Thanks, internet!

Same! I remember when I had to search for hours, with a translator website side-by-side with my search engine, to find any little scrap of information I could decipher about bands like T.M.Revolution, Dir en grey, Malice Mizer, and Luna Sea. That was less than 10 years ago, and now there's so much about these bands and a plethora more, and in so many languages! The internet has obviously helped spread the word around the world, and it's tiny spring of tidbits has exploded into an ocean of information. Totally amazing, really.

I thought I remember you saying you didn't like Versailles in a thread a while ago. Maybe they've grown on you? When you weren't looking ;-) Watch out world, the Japanese (metal bands) are taking over! :p

As for Death Angel, I thought they were from Seattle? Maybe they transplanted? I don't really care what nationality the members are, rather I'm interested in music that seems to have a certain influence or a different cultural background, even if it's blended with Western musical themes. There are numerous bands around the world that are heavily inspired by Japanese bands, either musically or visually. That definitely includes the subtle and/or dramatic fundamental sound differences from non-Western musical systems developed from centuries of isolated cultural traditions. [/college] Like stir-frying with deer meat. So if the "sound" isn't there, however watered-down with Westernization it might be, it doesn't really fit in my definition of "Asian bands."

  And here I thought I spent too much time talking about Asian bands on this forum.

LOL! I see you post about x-japan on facebook a lot, I just haven't gotten to them yet. It's not that I haven't overlooked them or anything, they're just the only obvious asian band i've seen. But no, I guess I haven't looked or seen anything you've posted otherwise.

I just got home after basically being sans computer for 36 hours (fucking great) so I'll check this thread in the AM. Glad to see it's gotten some love. :D

Oh sweet! Sex Machineguns... I would have gone with Onigunsow or Tekken II though, just for the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

No Boris though?

And for the Djent fans, there's also Cyclamen, but (I can't remember his name) relocated to London from Tokyo.

I heard Church of Misery on the Japanator Radio podcast (quite recommended) - if I recall correctly the were basically like a japanese version of orange goblin.. under first impression at least. Very cool stuff.

Death Angel is made up of mostly Philipino Americans. Mark Osegueda, however, is a conundrum. I say this because for the past year, I've been trying to figure out if he and I are related.

My last name is Osegueda, too.

It's not a popular name.

According to my online research (HAIL INTERNETZ!), our last name originated in the same town in El Salvador where my dad is from.

It's possible we're distant cousins...

We have the same hair!!
