So Tate is out of 'Ryche

QUEENSRYCHE STARRING GEOFF TATE: THE ORIGINAL VOICE
30TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

In all seriousness, of the LaTorre-fronted Queensryche is serious about reestablishing the fansbase, they need to quit booking all these retro-hair metal tours/fests...

And turn down some much needed cash after losing & continuing to lose their ass to legal fees?

Let's be realistic here....

You think so? Isn't that where the money and fans are?

To an extent, I suppose. But, IMO, the fans who love Queensryche who would go to those shows would also, hopefully go to see them if they were playing with (the likes of) Evergrey or Kamelot or Nightwish.

I think there is a contingent of their fans who would rather see Queensryche play with someone like that as opposed to between Great White and Warrant.

And Glenn, yeah...they need the money right now for sure...so I understand that. But playing to those retro crowds are not going to help them gather newer fans outside of that crowd. I think hitting Europe & playing the big outdoor fests would go a long way w/ new more Metal material.

Just IMO of course...

Yeah, there is a reason why BOC and KANSAS prefer state fairs to their own shows.
These communities, esp the wealthy ones, pay BIG bucks.
Heck, major corporations go through local talent agencies and pay terrible local cover bands about $15K to play their annual picnics.

I am sure these bands get paid a LOT more doing the summer festival / fair circuit.

The sad thing though is that it deteriorates their image in the eyes of the fans who truly enjoy ALL their output.

Though you guys are SERIOUSLY EXTREMELY foolish if you think LaTorre fronted QR is going to draw any more than they had been doing in recent years with Tate.

There is a very very very small percentage of their existing fanbase (And I mean the ones who STILL buy tickets to see them) who know who Todd LaTorre is, or even Crimson Glory for that matter.

Yeah, there's no way they are going to get any more popular. But it'd be cool to see them focus on their Metal audience as opposed to their general market audience...although general market pays their mortgages.

This is true...

I saw KANSAS playing at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point NC in 2011. They were not even selling merch, played about an hour, and were in front of about 1500 people outside on a warm night. I bet they made a nice chunk of change for that night.

I don't know what type of event that is.

There is something in a very affluent suburb of Chicago called Naperville.
It's called NAPERVILLE RIBFEST. Each person (of which there are THOUSANDS daily) pay $10 or more to get in. On top of that, there are MANY local food vendors selling food (Who I am sure pay a large percentage of what they make to the village).

Then you factor in the amount of tax dollars which are used as well....

I am sure when they get ZZ TOP or STEVE MILLER or DAVID LEE ROTH (some headliners in recent years), they easily make $50,000 or more. I would be shocked if they didn't.
