Overkill - Ironbound

From the Underground tour - and I missed it.

I got to thinking and came up with the same. That would be the last time that I have seen them then. Kind of fitting in a way since I think Underground was their last really solid album, I just haven't been able to get into the albums since quite as much.

Finally got around to getting this and GOD DAMN, Overkill is back! This is the stuff that has been missing for the last 15 years, Can't wait for the show in Austin!

I was startled at the sheer excellence of that first, LOONG track on the CD. For that matter, so was a decent part of my audience (both by phone and in the studio) when I played it on WREKage. :kickass:

I am loving the new Overkill. Easily one of their best albums since the early 90's. It is going to be up there at the year end, hopefully with Nevermore and Blind Guardian. I am also loving that new band Taking Dawn and think their album will be top 5 for me as well.

I really need to get back into Wrekage, I haven't listened faithfully since the early '90s. Got me into Iced Earth, hell, a lot of the bands I still listen to now. Still on Friday nights?

Yep, Friday nights from midnight until we get tired, or 6am, whichever is later. :)

Playlists are at: www.wrekage.org/playlists.php

Overall, the show trends toward heavier material than the usual prog/power norm, but as you can see, we try to play a variety of metal.

I think its just ok. I listened to it a lot too. Just can't even come close to touching Horrorscope in my book. I would like to see them but unfortunately HIM is playing the same night (at the same venue Rave/Eagles) as they are. Which sucks but I actually would prefer to see Him and Dommin.

The only thing I see in the horizon of beating this album as album of the year is Avantasia's double album. I've never really listened to Overkill, but I sure will be getting some of their back catalog now after hearing this beast. My only complaint is the technical issues of not being able to play it on the computer and rip it to the ipod.

Yep, that'd be a tough choice for me, too. (Shut UP, haterz. )

Huh? What's up with that? I think mine ripped okay.....

Really? There was a conversation in another Overkill thread before where this was an issue with a number of copies. It could be that they fixed the problem. On mine, it will hardly play on my computer and once it tries pulling track 8 it just stalls and then I can't play it or even rip any other cd as it fucks with the drive. Out of curiosity, where did you get your copy? If it's an online or a franchise, I might try to get another copy there.

one of my favorites from Ironbound :Smug: because it sounds like it belongs on an album like Necroshine - which is fine by me. The past 2-3 albums were a bit under par for Overkill in my opinion. I like the throwback sounds to the mid-late nineties albums. Those were some really strong releases.

meh, whatever. I can't get enough of Ironbound. All you hatorz can go listen to something else. :p Meanwhile I'll be headbanging and throwing horns to a solid metal release from Overkill!

Here! Here! Oh mighty Hoyt!:kickass: Hail The New Overkill!!!
I'd even put it up there w/ one of my faves "Years Of Decay" and fucking
"Taking Over"!!! :headbang::headbang::headbang:
(incidentally,I've LOVED Overkill since the mid 80's when
I first bought the now legendary "Feel The Fire" on vinyl!
But I've only seen them twice, but I only saw them twice
because I got hurt (standing too close to the pit & rabid balcony
divers @ the now defunct Metroplex!) the night before @ the first show I saw them w/ The Necros opening for the "Peace Sells..." touring Megadeth way back in 1987! And because I got hurt the night before, they let me in for free!) True story!

Hmm, the copy we were sent at WREKage appeared to be a regular CD release, but punched or marked to indicate it was sent as a promo. I borrowed it to rip and it ripped fine using CDex.

I have a copy for myself on mail-order right now, so we'll see.
