"Gonna Get Close to You..."

I'll say the same thing I said when I did a thread relating to this a while ago. It's one thing for a band like Motley Crue to do something like this, but for Queensryche? It's sickening, especially considering for years they had the "thinking man's metal" tag.

You have to figure this was a shot at Queensryche .. funny that Janick Gers is the one delivering the punch, as he's pretty much a parody act himself. He's right though.

"On whether he (Janick Gers) foresaw still being a part of IRON MAIDEN 20 years later when he joined the band in 1990:

"It's been fun, and as long as we enjoy it and it feels valid and the fans are still coming and we have great concerts, I'd like to carry on. And the minute I don't enjoy it and we don't deliver, I wouldn't want to carry on as a parody act doing a cabaret show."

I'm not ashamed to admit it - this actually brings me to tears seeing how one of my all-time favorite bands has sunk to this level.

Dear Geoff, Michael, Scott, and Eddie:

Please give a call to Mr. Degarmo. Set up a nice steak dinner somewhere. Lay all of your cards and emotions out on the table. Then formally agree to go into a studio somewhere in Seattle and create an array of tunes which combines the brilliance of Rage For Order with the intelligence of Operation Mindcrime and the commercial accessibility of Empire. Then go out and play some shows......with just the 5 of you and your instruments.

Thank you,
Your fans.

Why do some people insist on DeGarmo being the one who could write good songs and the others not? DeGarmo wrote most of the songs on HiTNF and several of those on Tribe, whereas O:MII (which actually was pretty good) didn't have any DeGarmo penned tunes.

Glenn --

I'm playing the "Live Evolution" DVD that you turned me onto and forgetting that this current QR show doesn't exist ........

Tate singing "London" and "Screaming in Digital" makes me forget that I even saw that this picture......

***Uncle Claus ---

I agree with your statement .....for me, however, I believe that DeGarmo was the "class" of the band ..... and without him, Mike Wilton seems a bit lifeless since he left. Gray and Stone just don't cut it, musically or visually.

DeGarmo also had great backing vocals and complimented Tate very well, and I miss his "presence" that represents the other half of these guys......

The band just seems lifeless since he left -- in a spiritual way I guess I'm saying......

I'm guessing that was directed at me. So I will ask, what does that have to do with anything? And do I care?
That was just a stupid reply.

Humor impaired much?

And for all of the people wailing about how DeGarmo needs to be back in the band, give it up. He's not coming back, and if he did it wouldn't make any difference. Does everyone need to be reminded that he wrote and performed on Hear in the Now Frontier? All that can be assumed is that he recognized at that point that the glory days were long gone, and he bailed. And he's only kept himself peripherally involved in music since then. He's not the answer - he's just the only one that realized that the train ride was over and managed to get out with his dignity intact.

This is an excellent reply. The only things that would benefit about bringing DeGarmo back would be that we would not have dumb ass video clips of Parker online and they probably would sell more tickets at their live shows. But musically, they would not be better. He is credited for half of the songs on Tribe and is that one any good? Also, they had the new song that DeGarmo and Tate wrote for the Sign of the Times compilation and that one is nothing to rave about.

Regarding the show, I’m on the fence about going to this. For the past 13 years I’ve been old enough to see Queensryche live, I’ve only missed them twice. They have been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid and I still have not totally given up on them. If anything, it’s something different to see and from what I’ve read, they are playing a decent amount of songs off of Promise Land.

The one question I have about this picture is, what song is he singing during this?
