My personal thoughts on the Kamelot situation

All you power Metal Dudes keep suggesting these high vocal range guys... Andre Matos? no thanks... overated in my opinion.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh my God, you're killing me dude.

The Andre Matos comment was NOT serious. Didn't take a genius to figure that out.

As far as Matos being overrated, this is the deserved reply:

Since Kamelot will have a Rhapsody/Luca Turilli connection now, the guy I'd love to see taking over the vocal slot for them would be Olaf Hayer.....he's an amazing singer, though I don't know if he would fit the look. Another guy that would be cool would be Henning Basse, since he sang on Oliver Palotai's "Sons of Seasons" cd. Just a couple ideas to mull over.

I don't really see Kamelot going for the typical power metal singer for Khan's replacement. They have crossover appeal...draw a lot of young kids who found out about them through World of Warcraft videos and Renaissance Fair stuff. They have more of an image to keep up than most PM bands. Gotta have a frontman who's as appealing and charismatic as Khan. Good pipes simply aren't enough in this situation.

Now, why are you still saying *IF*? I mean, sure, it wasn't officially announced but I think it's a bit naive to actually think (especially after Glenn's post) that he's returning.

Well, uh, because it hasn't been officially announced. Or inofficially, for that matter. And regrettably I am (unlike a significant portion of this forum, it seems) a mere mortal who does not possess the superhuman power of foretelling future events.

I was bitten by a radioactive spider that crash-landed from the planet Krypton. Thus, I have no need to risk my professional reputation on idle speculation!

....or perhaps I'm good friends with the guys in the band and REMAIN good friends after my post.

Hmmmmm.....

Care to wager a case of beer on things? Honestly, I'd love to lose on this one.

Take your pick.

Well said Kal-Parker! Or is it Peter-El? :loco:

Sigh. I didn't mean you. I know you're friends with the band, but in none of your posts have you said that Khan has actually left for real, only provided info that points towards it being likely. Hence "Or inofficially, for that matter."

I'm not a fanboy who can't stand the thought of Khan leaving, I just prefer to use words like "if" when something appears to be unconfirmed.

Fair enough. My words were carefully chosen for specific reasons and I'm sure you can appreciate that.

This X 100000000.
It's just a shame for the band with the timing of all of this.
I mean, I know some things you can't control, but I do believe this has impacted the reception of their latest album.
It is hardly discussed anywhere.

This doesn't sound too promising...

Oliver Hartmann would certainly be a cool choice. I haven't heard him sing on anything since At Vance, (besides his backing vocals during the Avantasia Wacken gig, but that hardly counts...) and he was their best singer. Love to hear him back at the helm of something.

Messiah Marcolin!
My interest is strangely piqued

i have been out of town for the holidays and i would like to clarify my statement. i REALLY enjoyed the second Kamelot album with first singer, but i was just trying to make a point about bands making necessary transitions. that's all. i wasn't putting him down, because honestly first Kamelot album with Khan sucks and sucks bad. not necessary his fault since i am sure he didn't write any of the melodies and at that time was brought in to do the album, but either way it is sub-par.

I have. I opened for them when they were in Virginia with Edguy. That was the most sold-out gig I have ever played, lemme tell ya.. line out the door!

Really? Along with Edguy? Sweet! I saw Rhapsody (of Fire..) in Philadelphia a few years ago at the Theater of the Living Arts (I think it's called can't remember) and thought I had one upped you.. so much for that lol. Amazing show! They were flawless, perhaps were even better than what's on the cds. I'll bet you had a blast. You get to hang out with him/them?

Finally throwing myself into this thread.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but I'm hoping they consider their backing man Jake for the position. Maybe they won't because he isn't high-profile but he really impressed at PP. As much as I'll miss Roy, I'd have no qualms about seeing Jake come out of the shadows and take the lead!

I couldn't agree with you more... Jake was amazing on Karma...

I'm really looking forward to hearing Amaranthe's stuff...

They sound great and also agree he matches Kamelot/Khans style very well.
