What band that has not play PP would you like to see

I think Dark Moor could be in a 3rd slot. They've been around since what 1994? They have 8 full length albums, granted the first 3 are with a female singer. But they certainly have enough quality material to warrant a 3rd slot.

Manticora has 7 albums, have been around since 1999, toured all over Europe 5 times (supporting JOP, supporting Angra, supporting CIIC, headlining etc), played all the big festivals, got a ton of media responses, toured USA together with CIIC/JOP ... yet, they wouldn't be in a 3rd slot at PPUSA!

You can't say that just because a band has been together for a long time and put out a ton of albums would make them a top tier band.

but Tesseract will be huge?

I do agree....just becuase a band has been around alot doesnt make them headline material. There needs to be a big fanbase first.

Don't know Hangar or Fracture but for the rest of your tier, I like the way you think

:kickass:

Darkwater and Aspera specifially NEED to play PP :D

Here is a clip from Fracture. There are two bands with the name, one from Norway and this one from Australia. The album 'Simple Chaos' totally blew me away. If you're into heavy prog then you need to get this album.

1st Tier
Masterplan
Jeff Scott Soto (assuming a "career spanning" set)
Allen/Lande (Assuming they would do some "special" set)
Volbeat
Pretty Maids

2nd Tier
Power Quest
Heavenly
Freedom Call
Wig Wam (would SLAY the place, I just know it)
Impelliterri

3rd Tier
Cain's Offering
Astral Doors
Serenity ( I know, not likely)
Iron Fire
Brother Firetribe
Bloodbound

I second the notion for URIAH HEEP.
It would draw in a completely different fan base.

Not sure how expensive it would be, but HAWKWIND would bring in a whole different scene as well.

As for the usual suspects, most have mentioned any other I would suggest.

I agree it wouldn't make them get a top tier slot. But we're talking about a third slot here which is right smack in the middle. I still believe that it would be a fair spot to put them in.

Similar situation to these bands who were placed in basically the same spot.

Seventh Wonder
Eldritch
DGM
Red Circuit

Based on all the buzz and press surrounding them before a full-length even drops, all signs point to yes.

I am not being a jerk here, but I seriously never even heard of this band.
Where is "all the press" you speak of?

I am not trying to refute that this is a band who might break through as I seroiusly know nothing of them. I just think Claus has made some pretty damn bold statements there.

At least this time he did put the "in my own opinion" caveat, as opposed to claiming such statements as true facts.

Also, what is this "Fastest growing sub-genre" you speak of?

I can tell you being a guitar player myself that they are being talked about A LOT on the musician boards. All the so called "djent" bands are, like Periphery, etc....

1st Tier:

Within Temptation
Volbeat
Demons & Wizards
Shadow Gallery
Korpiklaani

2nd Tier:

Falconer
Skyclad
Wolverine
Anathema
Green Carnation
Eluveitie

3rd Tier:

Tuatha De Danann
Myrath
Van Canto
Dead Soul Tribe

BTW, I'm a little surprised with all the talk about Tessaract in this thread. I saw them open for Hevy Devy and I'm not sure I get what the talk is about. Personally, I liked them well enough to pick up their EP, but I didn't see them as the next big thing.

Fair enough.
Just based on Claus' statements, they were going to be the instant sensation GREEN DAY was (for example) when they first broke to the majors.

Maybe I am simply not hip enough, as I never heard the term "djent"

I don't like the term djent myself, but it's basically a certain type of guitar sound that bands like Periphery, Meshuggah, etc all have. It's hard to describe though. A tone with lots of high mids and almost a woody sound is the best I can describe it.

I have seen Cain's Offering mentioned a few times, and it is hard to group them. They are a new band, but they are also a supergroup of sorts, while not as big as super groups like Demons & Wizards, it is made of members of almost equally as big of acts, so while they only have one CD I found it hard to put them any less than 4th slot, that is the leader singer of Stratovarious and the master mind behind the better Sonata Arctica stuff.

Read this review of their EP (coming from one of the best sources for reviews out there). I know this is just one, but I can give you easily another couple of dozens of reviews that are praising their EP. This band is on the verge of becoming huge and they have the potential of becoming a genre-defining band. They have a really big following in Europe, and developing here in the US. They are on Century Media. They have a lot of $.

(Keep in mind Sputnik's reviews rate albums from 1-5)

And after you're done reading this, go listen to the music for yourself. :)

I know nothing about Doom metal. Like, pretty much nothing at all. That means chances are I will be wrong when I make any assumptions about any bands within the genre, especially up and coming ones. If you don't follow the style (or the scene-scenes around it), chances are you simply don't know. A *lot* of knowledgeable people in the metal scene have named TesseracT one of metal's most promising bands to surface in 2010.

He might as well claim them as facts. Just wait and you'll see.

I hate the name, but Djent it is.

Opening slot on Devin Townsend's recent US tour, LOTS AND LOTS of forum talk, etc. They were even mentioned a bunch in this year's 'guess the lineup' thread. Lots of buzz.

Djent is doing pretty well. It's basically the new deathcore. Wouldn't expect you to be all that familiar with it as its major demographic is probably 20 years younger than you.

Headliners:
Demons and Wizards
Rhapsody
Wintersun (big enough for a headliner? idk. probably.)

3rd and 4th slots:
KIUAS
Fairyland
Lost Horizon reunion
Ghost

1st and 2nd slots:
Slough Feg
Magic Kingdom
Pharaoh
Absolute Steel
Atlantean Kodex

Ok, thanks for the info.
I suppose this band isn't discussed heavily over at the Hellride Forums.
