Well technically Michael Romeo did not really confirm it yet????

I don't care what they say over at the SymX forum. You think Mustaine would jump the gun on an unfinished deal with an announcement like this? I think he's been in the business long enough to not do something as stupid as that. I remember when they kept shutting down news about the Lande/Allen project over there because "it wasn't confirmed by the band" while not only did Jorn Lande's site confirm it but so did the record label. I understand wanting to have a control on rumors, but when other credible sources are stating it (its officially on www.megadeth.com right now) I don't really see the reason why they have to keep spouting the "not confirmed" rhetoric.

Hard Rock Live in Orlando!!! That's not even a 3000 seat place. Saturday night also. Looks like I'm heading that way for sure. Should be sweeeeeet! :D

NICE!!! I just want to know what Mustaine did to convince SymX to play!!

Wow, what good news.

Somehow I can't really picture Mustaine having to convince Symphony X, it was probably the other way around, or at the very least, a money issue (e.g., Ozzfest bands forking up as much as $75k+ for a spot on the tour). After all, who else is standing in line offering Symph X a spot on such a prestigious lineup? I like 'em, you like 'em, but face it, most metalheads who know Megadeth DON't know Symphony X.... yet.

Here's to Mustaine for what continues to be a killer comeback effort all the way around.

I was kinda surprised at that, as well. I figuered they'd come here, to Tampa, being that we have the amphitheater here...which is perfect for this kind of event. I will be in Orlando, though.

As for SymX, great post from Glenn over there:
Not to overstep my boundries, but ever since SX took on professional management (it was long overdue), things are confirmed without their knowledge to a certain extent. I would assume they discussed options and then left it to their management (as every band should do). In this case, I would assume that Mustaine got the word from the booking agent on the confirmation immediately when it happened with a good chance that Romeo had no clue at the time of the announcement.

The reason I believe all this? The exact same thing happened when I booked them a few years ago for ProgPower. They were confirmed and didn't even know it until an interviewer told them.

MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the Forum section of the band’s website:

“Droogies!

Well, the weekend is upon us and it is a fabulous sunny day here in San Diego County. I am meeting with Director Michael Sarna, who you remember did the 'Of Mice And Men' video, today to BBQ and go over a special project for Gigantour. We are discussing the making of a DVD of the entire event for your collection which will include everything from behind the "metal curtain" of my office, working on the last details of the tour, to pre-production, to rehearsals and the bands all meeting up in Fresno, CA, to taking the mighty festival on the road to you. It will hopefully feature songs, sound-checks, and other casual stuff that I know as a fan and friend of the bands of Gigantour, I will want to see. I hope you will too. There will be loads of stuff still updated and added to the Gigantour site in the days to come, and daily news updates regarding all the bands, so go there and check often!

I will be announcing the next band for the Second Stage next week, as well as more confirmed tour dates. Lastly, Tuesday I will meet up with John Petrucci (DREAM THEATER and Jeff Loomis (NEVERMORE - who I am told once auditioned for Megadeth, but I thought he was too young and said so?!?!), two amazing guitarist for a photo shoot in NYC. I am looking forward to meeting up with guys for numerous reasons, some of which are to hang out with great talent, but also to thank them for their contribution to this tour, and to this music genre that we all belong to. I also hope to get some tips from them too. I will try not to load myself with my favorite pizza in the world, yep, you all know, Ray's Pizza of NYC. And maybe I can meet Annie and some more Droogs again there if time permits. So if all my hard work at the gym has paid of, I should be able to afford to have two bites and a lick of a plain slice. I can't wait to see you all on the adventure, and thank you in person.

I love you all and GOG!"

In an earlier post by Dave Mustaine he did mention Georgia as a destination. Hi Fi Buys has the Warped tour on August 3rd and nothing else confirmed until the 13th of August so hopefully they can squeeze a show in there. This tour is going to be real awesome.
As posted above if Overkill, Testament and even Anthrax is added , this tour would get that much better.

FINALLY! Some freakin' dates are announced! Oooooh Chicago?????

Time to alert the Milwaukee peeps that I'll be crashing on couches :)

Here's Romeo's statement on the matter of SymX:

"Originally, our plans for the summer were to finish writing, and get into the studio to finish the new cd. After we rethought everything, we came to the conclusion that Gigatour was too cool of a thing to pass up.

We want to give a big thanks to Dave Mustaine for giving us the opportunity, and a big thumbs up to Mike Portnoy for putting in a good word for us. Thanks guys; see you on the road!"

King Lek - I feel you on awesome tours bypassing states. Where I live we almost never get the good tours. Hell, we dont even get an ozzfest. Its total bullshit. I wish people where I live would quit being hick pieces of shit and put down the country music. Metal heads need to unite and some over throw all the bad music out there.

Wasn't sure if I wanted to go until I saw SymX sign up. Now I just can't miss it. Been too long waiting to see those boys play again.
