I'll include a couple from PP4 that simply MUST come back at some point...

Katagory V
Iced Earth
Nightwish
Savatage
Rage
Anathema
Jag Panzer
Voivod
Blind Guardian
Devin Townsend

Ah, I can think of more as well... ten's not enough... :)

And perhaps The Iron Maidens for the pre-party? ;)

At this moment, here's the list...

Crimson Glory!!! (If Ben Jackson's reunion rumours come true)
Kamelot
Adagio
After Forever (or Within Temptation or Epica) must be a female vocalist band!
Masterplan
Rhapsody
Heavenly

Therion

Lets see...

Preparty : Magistral, Pharaoh, and Arwen

(From opener to headliners)
PYRAMAZE!!!
Heavenly
Vanishing Point
Labyrinth
Virgin Steele

----

Power of Omens
Andromeda (hopefully theyll have a new cd out to replace the awful mess that was II = I)
Death Machine (surprise band)
Lost Horizon
HELLOWEEN

There we go. I dont think theres too many out and out completely prog bands on there but several of them, Vanishing Point, Labyrinth, Andromeda are exactly Power Progressive Metal.

I finally updated my totals. A few disclaimers:

Those that listed more than 10 choices (except for either/or cases) were rejected.
Either/or choices were counted as half votes for each band
Any additional lists posted by the same person were ignored for the purposes of this tally.
Apologies if any of my totals are off. I'm doing this for fun, remember!!!
I am not counting pre-party bands at present. I think a separate thread for this might be appropriate...

I think ProgPower is pretty much on the map already.

1) Grave Digger
2) Brainstorm
3) Masterplan
4) Nocturnal Rites
5) Adagio
6) Children of Bodom
7) Dreamscape (reunion)
8) Stratovarius (only allowed to play old material up until Visions)
9) Lost Horizon (given they continue since their guitarist/songwriter just left the band)
10) Dark Moor (only if the girl returns to sing for them)

I only chose bands that have not played in US (except Children of Bodom, who will open for Dimmu Borgir and Nevermore, but I think they would be the perfect non power/prog band for ProgPower)

I'm losing my faith in some of you people and the music you listen to. There seems to be a spouting of the same old same old. There are some bands out there doing progressive things that don't involve overuse of keyboards or sappy mundane lyrics. IMO alot of the bands you poeple are wanting to see use way too much keyboards and have crappy lyrics. I love Ayreon (which uses alot of keys), but the keys are so tastefully done.

Believe me when I say that in the upcoming months you will all know about Pyramaze. They are a bad ass Power Metal band with balls from Denmark with the exception of Jonah Weingarten on keys from the US. Oh I forgot to mention one small little tiny thing their singer is... LANCE FUCKING KING!!! Goto www.intromental.com to download an mp3 from their forthcoming debut "Melancholy Beast"

I don't think I could sit through a full Opeth set, especially if they're one of the later bands. I like their music, but man, some of those live songs could make sitting through an entire performance of Shakespeare's Henry V look doable.

I quite agree, having seen them. they get more than a bit ...tedious. I'm not too worried about them taking a Progpower slot since i think there's already been one failed attempt to have them there (i think they wanted too much money or something), and now they tour the US fairly regularly.

Ryan (still don't like Opeth. and oh, how i've tried... zzzzzzz)

I ended up leaving around 12ish. My friend that was there said I didn't miss much, they played about 3 more songs that managed to last 30 more minutes. I don't have ADD, but I sure was itching to be moving like I do. It was either leave, or fall asleep. :X

yeah, my opinion was that Lilitu stole that whole show (Lilitu, Yakuza, Lacuna Coil, Opeth) and ran all the way the bank with it. I honestly thought they destroyed all 3 of the national acts (Yakuza, Lacuna Coil, and the mighty Opeth).
