Yeah, did you ever see the SOME KIND OF MONSTER doc?
He was pretty much offered it, but turned it down, feeling he would be more of a "go through the motions" player, as opposed to someone with more of a presence, like Trujillo.

Regardless if you are a METALLICA fan or not, SOME KIND OF MONSTER is a very well made doc, in my opinion. You really get a better understanding as to why ST ANGER came out the way it did. (Not saying it makes you appreciate the album any better, as you get more of an insight as to justify what most people criticize it for). For me, it helped me to simply erase the album as part of their discography as it simply should have never been released.
