Headliners Prediction

i am fabio broke it down pretty well and realisticly for us. i think i'm gonna guess helloween for the "cementing band. and just because i want to see them, i'm gonna say Angra, or Pain of Salvation for the returner.

my best guess would be:
Helloween and Angra for the win. (although i'd rather nevermore,blind guardian, symphony x, or gammaray than helloween)

Gamma Ray
Rhapsody
Helloween
Iced Earth

As much as I'd hate to see it .. actually it wouldn't be too bad since it'd be the last band of the night.. but no one has given any consideration to a return of Pain of Salvation for the prog side. I'd certainly feel they'd "cement" the progpower name in the prog department, and fit the returning band bill.

Dio's profile and price tag are going up as a result of Heaven & Hell. He is no longer in my ballpark.

Further proof of Glenn's "Balls O' Steel": Dio WAS at one time in his ballpark and presumably under consideration.

I am going with Iced Earth and either Stratovarius or Helloween/Gamma Ray or even Blind Guardian.

As far as the Showcase goes, I'd go with Falconer as headliner, Leaves' Eyes next, Galneryus, and Engage out of Richmond, VA. I think Falconer could headline PP, but there seems to be many in the forums who doesn't think so, so let them get their feet wet at the Showcase and blow us away.

I love Galneryus as well. However, Galneryus is from Japan. It has been said that no Asian act will play PPUSA. Since the Showcase is an extention of that, you can rest assured, Galneryus won't play the Showcase, either,

Odd, I have heard some decent stuff from them since PP4, and I hated them then.

I would be shocked to see the trend of having one female-fronted act at the festival come to an end, especially considering how popular the genre is becoming. Most of the bands that I would LOVE to see at a future ProgPower just aren't big enough yet to headline (Lunatica, Visions of Atlantis, Xandria, Beautiful Sin, etc.). Since Nightwish is obviously out the only female-fronted band I can think of to fill the slot is Within Temptation.

I'll guess Iced Earth for the other headliner position. They really aren't my cup of tea, but maybe seeing them live will make a fan out of me (like Brainstorm, Tad Morose, Primal Fear and Freak Kitchen to name a few).

1.) Looking over and analyzing the posts, my best guess right now would be that the returning band will be Blind Guardian. Why? Because they haven't toured the U.S. in a while, (last december i think), and would be a fantastic, powerfully cementing name for progpower and deserve a glorious return.

2.) For the other headliner, I truly do believe it'll be either Iced Earth (since Glenn said before that he WILL have them at his festival in the future) or the legendary Fates Warning, whom have never been to PP, and would certainly cement the holy name of prog for the other side, of the prog/power name.

I can't wait for the new website to be up and running. Hopefully Glenn will give us a christmas gift of announcing maybe 1 of the headliners? lol.

Also, I remember them saying that they weren't going to play in the US anymore. Certainly, things could change, but it doesn't seem likely. (and I like everything they have done, including Be.)

As for Avantasia, I thought Glenn already ruled them out for being too expensive.


Personally, not many of the guesses have been all that attractive to me. Iced Earth is probably the biggest draw for me, but I can see them locally as well. Helloween would be cool, but not really a big draw for me. Bringing in Ramma Gay or Fates Warning would make it an early evening for me.

Who knows maybe Glenn has pulled off the biggest coupe ever, and one of the headliners is....First time ever on a live stage SHADOW GALLERY!!!!!! Now that would be awesome beyond awesome, but now back to the real world. Maybe BRAINSTORM, and ICED EARTH.

As far as the showcase, i know who I would like to see, but i have no idea who Shane is considering. So i won't go there. Plus i am wondering if Glenn will let the showcase expand to 5 bands? Now that would be awesome.

A Demons & Wizards set would be nice, but I don't see it happening. Atleast, not this year.

Nevermore doesn't stand a chance. Warrel is going to be promoting his solo album and Jeff Loomis is doing one too as well. The promotion cycle for This Godless Endeavor is over. It would make ZERO sense to book them at this point.

Blind Guardian is in the same situation. The buzz over their last album is gone.

Rhapsody is a possibility. They haven't really toured in support of their last CD and haven't played the US in what would be over 3 years by the time ProgPower rolls around. At this point, they would need something like ProgPower to help bring them back to the top.

Iced Earth is probably too expensive, and they are supposedly touring this spring/summer so...

By September 2008, Nightwish will have toured the US 3 times. It would be suicide to book them for ProgPower.

For me I'd probably guess Cynic and Rhapsody.

i wasnt aware they were big enough, id much rather see another band in that spot personally.
