Any A-ha fans out there?
I've recently been exploring some of their newer material via youtube.
Sadly, here in the U.S. A-ha is regarded as just another one-hit-wonder from the 1980s (even the U.S. hit "The Sun Always Shines On T.V." seems to be forgotten). "Take On Me" is an amazing...
Any XTC fans here?
I've just been checking them out lately... listened to a bunch of their singles from over their career...
XTC is one of those artists whose name I've seen over and over again... referenced in reviews... one of those guys did the strings for a Porcupine Tree song... and they...
By the time Ronnie James Dio joined Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, he had already been recording for 17 years! His first single release was "Conquest/Lover" in 1958 as Ronnie and the Red Caps.
Many people are unaware of Ronnie James Dio's long... looooong career in music... much longer than...
Hey guys... does anyone here like Toto?
I used to make fun of Toto... but I've really been digging a few of their hits lately... such as "I'll Be Over You" (feat. Michael McDonald), "Rosanna" and the new hit "Bottom of Your Soul". They have a great combination of technical musicianship and...
Does anybody here like these definitive late 90s bands... matchbox twenty and Collective Soul? Both fused the 90s alt-rock sound with more commercial tendencies to produce stunning results. I hated both of these bands back then... but have just recently begun to appreciate their material...
Admit it... you crank up "Maneater" whenever you hear it on your car stereo... and you can't resist tapping your foot to the ultra-funky "I Can't Go For That".
Growing up, I wore out my "H2O" cassette... but only recently have I been able to fully appreciate their vast and diverse...
Anyone else here dig one of the seminal acts of the disco era?
I've really come to appreciate their suprisingly sophisticated disco-rock arrangements, rich vocal harmonies and infectious melodies. The lyrics are delightfully campy... though the song "Village People" shows a deeper side to...
I imagine there's a few Kate Bush fans amongst the Enchant community. Well, after many years... she's finally released a new double album... and it's nothing less than jaw-dropping. Her voice is as amazing as ever... and music is very interesting... quite lush at times... another masterpiece.
Anybody like this Canadian artist? Her latest album "Wikked Little Grrrls" is a refreshing blend of sexy and sophisticated trip-hop, rock, r&b, jazz, dance and soul. She has a very sultry voice.
I've really been getting into Depeche Mode lately. Anybody here like them? I'm enjoying their mid-period (86-90). Their music is so dark yet danceable... a very interesting combo. "Enjoy the Silence" is of course... one of the greatest tunes ever written.
I dont know if "Catch Without Arms" has been discussed yet since there is no Search feature ... but the new Dredg album slays everything that's been released this millenium.
Anybody like George Michael?
Ive been listening to him a lot lately... his voice is so powerful and unique... and his pop music is really quite interesting... often quite ambient and lush.
I thought I remembered Dredg being discussed here before. I bought their 2 full-lengths today and am thoroughly impressed. They have a very fresh and innovative sound. The percussion is a particular highlight.

Has anyone ever heard Steven Wilson's (Porcupine Tree) cover of Alanis Morissette's classic "Thank You"?
I think it's a wonderfully frail and disarming recording. I think it's very interesting to hear Steven cover a mainstream pop hit like this. It's quite a melancholic tune.
How about...
Anyone hear this yet?
I heard three songs today... and I have to admit I'm rather impressed... sounds better than the last 5 or so Dream Theater albums! I always felt LaBrie sounded rather out of place on the last few DT records... the material on the solo album suits his voice better.
I was in a rather masochistic mood last night... and decided to torture myself by watching Metallica's documentary "Some Kind of Monster". It was unintentionally hilariously throughout... but I can't believe it was over 2 hours long! It grew quite tedious.
I found the interaction between...
