Mystery Update

I am predicting something in the vain of AOR or melodic hard rock. Something like Houston or First Signal...

Then again, I'm also thinking thrash... Can't think of a specific band that would fit the criteria though..

Unfortunately, I think doom is out. Doesn't seem like Glenn is a big doom fan.

I guess I'm hoping for something on the extreme side of things but still within reason for this fest.

Equilibrium?

I'm getting antsy. I hope announcement comes soon! :) I will try to be patient.

I would say, "I bet Glenn's steepling his fingers and laughing evilly at our flailing about," but he probably does that on a regular basis anyhow...

I really hope it's not James Labrie. That shit sounds like Mudvayne.

Dude if you think LaBrie sounds like Mudvayne, you might wanna have your hearing checked

But seriously, I doubt it's LaBrie, DT will probably be done recording and will be in the midst of the touring cycle for the new album when ProgPower rolls around.

Yeah, it sounds like NU-Metal. Table scratching, stop and go riffs and other Nu Metal tom foolery. I'm not the only one who thinks this either. 2/3 reviews of Elements on the Metal Archives throw around the words "Nu Metal" "Linkin Park" "Nu-Metal With Keyboards" and the like.

I hear ya. There are definitely some Nu Metal elements in his solo stuff, but Mudvayne I don't hear. It's all good.

To at least give you some credibility, when I interviewed LaBrie during his Elements of Persuasion tour, he did say Mudvayne was one of the bands he got influenced from for that particular album.

That being said, have you listened to his new solo record? Can't say it's pure nu metal like you said:
