The festival headliner next year....

This is an honest question. Does anybody care about Arjen anymore? When was the last time that he did something noteworthy? Do a lot of people like him, or just a bunch of die hard fans? Would that many people really care if Ayreon played?

I never got into Ayreon. None of them, actually. I think it's just pressure by the fanboys.

Let's remember that without all of that vocal talent, I don't think he'd have gotten anywhere, except for Stream of Passion (their first album, when Arjen was involved was BRILLIANT).

I like most of the Ayreon I have heard, and I do like Star One.

Though I too question how much of a draw it would be.

I think actually it would be a huge draw....internationaly to. Since this that would be such a rare thing I am sure it would bring in lots of people actually. Just because it isnt on your radar doesnt mean it isnt on a thousand others.

Yep. Think I mentioned that earlier. He doesn't sell all that great in the states, but considering how rare he tours in general it would be a big hit. Not only would you get die-hards in the US but you'd get die-hards overseas.

To answer the question about when the last time anyone cared about something Arjen did? Umm...his last album was fantastic. Lots of people in this community thought that as well. It's not like he's in a rut and hasn't put out quality material. Sure there are those who don't like it, but I think in the progpower genre he is pretty well respected and people would like to see him perform. So, I disagree that it would only be huge diehards that would want to see him due to older material.

Ummm..that's not at all why I am saying that.
I have been a casual fan of his work for quite a while, esp Star One.

I don't know what his international sales are like.

Just going by honestly rarely hearing any mention of him aside from this forum.

I think it would be a cool booking for sure.

Agreed. People would come from all over.

I never got the appeal of Ayreon/Star One. Something about Arjen's songwriting leaves me cold. I did enjoy Stream of Passion and Ambeon though.

Same here. I thought the James LaBrie vehicle("The Human Equation") was ok, but I certainly wouldn't plan a vacation to Atlanta around it. It's just ho-hum to me.

Stating that Ayreon would draw alot of fans is the same as saying Rage would. Rage was an epic fail, even though the show was incredibly good. I think we would have a similiar situation. 500 die hard fans screaming at the tops of their lungs while 500 others ran for the doors.

We could always get Lana Lane as the female fronted band, right? As a headliner, I mean. I'm sure she would put some people in the seats too.

Progpower needs a true headliner to sell out. Glenn will make the right decision, as he usually does. We can only speculate, but when the time comes, you know its gonna be good.

They do put on long headline shows. However, I highly doubt it's them. I would love it to be, but I think it's still too soon for the headliner to be a growly band as a lot of the fans that go to Progpower aren't the biggest fans of that style.

He's already tried getting them for PP III.
